Tomorrow sees our longest away trip of the season thus far and a visit to struggling Hartlepool. Pools have lost their last four games all without scoring so tomorrow presents a good opportunity for us to back up last weekends victory at Woking and cement this mini-run of good form.
A fairly happy hunting ground over the years if memory serves - a few draws including the late late Tommy Wright equaliser, a fine 3-1 win on the opening day in 2019 with a 3-2 the season before that. Here’s hoping another win tomorrow afternoon.
Safe travels to those going tomorrow!

Defensive frailties again. Conceding 3 in 25 minutes speaks for itself. We get an equaliser and hang on for 120 seconds. Very frustrating especially for those that went.

Certainly not a surprise. It’s going to be a topsy-turvy season. Just got to keep encouraging really, as long as we’re not in the relegation shake up all good for me. Need to be professional next week and put this one behind us.

At 2-0 we take the foot off the pedal instead of going for the jugular!

As Steve said, score three goals, should be winning the game but as Gareth has said it’s going too be like that up and down but again as Steve said, it’s basics, do your job and see the game out. Now let’s put this game behind us and make sure we get through next week.⚽️

Magic Wands were black with a white tip in the comics I read as a lad. It seems they now come also in white with a flag on top. Early in the second half with Sutton deservedly 2-0 up after dominating the first half - the ball snaps a corner pole in half about 2 feet from the ground. A search of the 'Pools oddments cupboard eventually produces a much thinner white pole as a replacement. No sooner has this pole been topped by the corner flag and planted than the game is stood on its head.
Hartlepool without a goal in 9 hours play score 2 in two minutes. The tallest striker in the home squad must have been rendered invisible - to our defenders anyway - as he moves unchallenged in our area. Sutton make a come back to level at 3-3 but a free header from the invisible man wraps up the points.

At 2-0 we take the foot off the pedal instead of going for the jugular! I don’t think that’s true. We continued attacking and creating chances throughout - definitely didn’t sit back.

Good first half, second half they changed things and we were late to respond on and off the pitch. Though it looks like we were short of central defenders with Kirk not being fully match fit and Ransom picking up an injury and Ryans absence pushing French out on the right again. This looks like it forced us to olay 3 at the back which worked during most of the first half, but when they changed things we lost our shape.
But to be fair their fourth had no excuse, you mark your men.

Probably shouldn't read too much into the stats but 17 points gained from the 8 matches in which he's played.

Its not really a surprise we are seeing inconsistency from such a young side, 2-0 up at HT you shouldn't be walking away empty handed. Experience is the key, when you want to protect a lead or when the tide shifts against you, I am still surprised SM didn't get in at least 1 or 2 who have been around the block.
I still think FGR will get promoted as they seem to have a really good balance, and they saw out that game against us by using experienced heads. I do think if we can stay in touch up to Christmas and if SM can get a couple in then we could sneak a PO place.
