I cannot believe that no Ryman games were played on the tradition boxing day and NYD, not only did it reduce crowds across the league but has lead to the total destruction of the NY programme. The Ryman league management are responsible for the loss of one of the most important pay days of the season and I think they should explain themselves?

Giving the players a rest perhaps? Letting them relax & enjoy Xmas, etc?
Giving the fans wallets a bit of a breather perhaps?
Didn't notice you getting upset before today's postponement. Blimey, if we had played 4 games over the period on top of the previous few weeks, our players would probably be carying even more injuries. A blessing in disguise I call it.
With interest in only one cup comp, there are plenty of free m/w dates to fit in postponed fixtures at the mo.

I am not talking about any extra games, we should of played Boxing Day and NYD instead not as well as. We may not of suffered much against Carshalton but others did crowd figures were generally low. Even if we had played today the crowd would probably of been half that for a NYD fixture, as it was we lost the lot due to the weather. Sorry I don't see any merit at all maybe the clubs should of been given the option? The positive for today was Maidstone losing at home to Hastings leaving us 1pt behind the playoffs with 2 games in hand now

If the Carshalton game had been on Boxing Day then I, for one, wouldn't have been there. I spend Christmas with my family away from the Sutton area and it's very difficult for me to get to a match on 26th December. A day later and it's a lot easier.
Bear in mind also that public transport is very limited on Boxing Day which prevents some fans who don't live locally from getting to matches on that day.
Saturday is the traditional day for football, and I'm quite content with the Ryman League's choice of playing dates this season. Today we were just unlucky with the weather.

TBH, any game at this time of year at this level is at the mercy of the weather. With the way Xmas & NY fell this year, playing 2 games on the 2 satrudays was quite frankly, the simplest option. The Conference tried to stick with tradition (which incidentally, I understand and do actually prefer. It's a big feature of the English game) but I have to say the Ryman took the more logical path. If anything, I think the 27th game at the Bobbins actually benefitted from being on the saturday. Simply because there was no 'Public Holiday' in the way (such as with AA's case) to dent what were already falling attendances in a game between two sides not even 2 miles apart. The pitch today wasn't playable. End of story. Even the bits that had been subjected to the suns rays were still very hard. And I'm sure had the game started, we'd have been looking at an abandonment shortly after 4pm. If it's any consolation, Dos properly beasted the lads with a training session.

I could've made the 26th so it would've helped me out. Probably the only one mind.

No you weren't as i could have made the 26th as well. I was at a wedding the 27th so missed it. Yesterday would have been only my 2nd game of the season. Would have prefered New Years Day as there was bugger all to do and nothing on tv

I would prefer if games were never on New Years day except for Premier League (live on tv) as I can not normally move from my bed/floor after a hard night/morning.

The crowd were also helped by lack of premiership fixtures on the 27th!

Amen to that! ;D This was the one year when we didn't have a NYD game, and also the one year I haven't been out on the piss since 1997. I could've got up at 7am without hurt had I wished to do so! Oh well
