I disagree with the "we didn't deserve to win it" attitude. We have a small squad and used almost every available player last night.
Dos, made a decision towards the end to inject pace and trickery in to the game when both teams where struggling on a heavy pitch. This opened them up and allowed us to get forward a bit more. There 5 and 11 where both lucky to be on the pitch so having the 4 sent off for 2 yellow cards was only what we deserved.
The game lasts until the final whistle and we wanted a win regardless of the minute the goal was scored in.
Well done to all the players and Dos for spotting they where there for the taking late on in the game and making the changes.

Whereas I thought Deano was our MoM. The game's all about opinions !
I also sit in the camp that says although we were not at our best, Margate's real chances all came in the first 30 minutes and resulted from our mistakes. Once Dos shuffled the formation we were much more solid and Margate were restricted to long-range efforts, their one that hit the post appeared to be a mis-hit cross rather than a shot.
An injection of pace for the last 20 minutes of a close game always has a chance of making a difference, and it did. Yes, they didn't deserve to lose, but we kept going and picked up 2 additional points that maybe we didn't fully deserve.

We have been where Margate are which is why we feel a little bit of sympathy for them but the same is true of them that was us last season. Inability to score when on top, lack of confidence and defensive frailties, remember we still scored twice and had other decent opportunities. The big difference is that a top team can change things when plan A is not working which is what Dos did and it blow Margate away in that last 15 or 20mins. If Margate had of score in the 1st half I guess the change would of been made a lot earlier and we may of seen a totally different game. I am not being disrespectful to Margate but the table does not lie and we needed to change our entire team to change that around.

I thought Harwood was their best player, and he was 'unlucky' to be the one to see red for two bookables when the card-happy ref (it was twelve yellows, KBB!) could easily have sent off their 11, and arguably their 2 and/or 5 as well.
My man of the match would've come from Hughes (who was at least fighting hard when so many looked rusty), Collins (who along with KES had another assured game) and Nicholls (who made a couple of important saves and looked solid throughout). Thought Deano was quiet, mainly due to position and facing their pacey wide men.
Interestingly, days after the comments in the Comet about a more direct approach suiting the league, Margate look to spread the play with wingers. You can then argue that they got nil points for style, but stretching the play seemed to open up opportunities that a more confident side may have taken advantage of.
Agree, Margate don't look like relegation fodder, but how often did we play well and lose last year, and the year before, and...

I would like to see the young kid starting games.Good players with ability should be picked over nuisance value types. When presented with a clear run in on goal West had neither the pace or ability to do anything with it.Dunn has it in spades.......................

Billy didn't look interested unless he had the ball last night. And yes, when he had the ball he looked lively and able to create.
I think Dos sees him as an impact player and is introducing him into the team gradually. We've all seen that Billy doesn't yet have 90mins in him, and seems best employed as an impact player at present.

Well, what a night. More on the ref later but to add to all the above we were a tad fortunate to win but finished the match strongly. The introduction of Gav McCallum was the catalyst to the game changing in U's favour as they struggled to handle his pace. Billy Dunn also was a more mobile threat than Chukki who must be very frustrated by the injury prone season he has had. We've rarely seen the best of him as a result.
Sorry Billy but Westy give us a different option & Billy Dunn has so far done better coming off the bench - he's only 17 and learning the game. Dos ploy to bring him on later in the game keeps working so why change it?
As for our mate in black last night he was in complete contrast to most refs we have seen in the IL this season. While they have ignored countless bad challenges this bloke went mental & having booked Steve McKimm for a tackle from behind decided he would book anybody else who did the same, irrespective of the nature of the tackle. Based on that he really should not have booked Matt Hann & I felt Harwood was unlucky with his first caution BUT he should have booked the 11 for his high challenge on Paul Nicholls. I also thought their no 6's caution was harsh too & I forget what David Hughes' was for!! It was like watching a Prem Lgue ref.
One Margate fan suggested that the ref had been our twelfth man. What rubbish. Westy was illegally impeded when bearing down on goal but he let it go & as stated above he showed ridiculous yellows to both sides.
No, our twelfth man was their inability to finish in front of goal. Margate are where they are because of a disasterous start but perhaps Yorath has given them more resilience and certainly more confidence and tey certainly looked better than their league position suggests.
Meanwhile U's are now 4th but will ave to play far better than last night if that position is to be maintained or bettered. One thing about this side though is that it keeps going for 90 mins & the rewards of doing so have been pretty rich so far.

You lads know far more about these players than i do,i've only been to twelve games so far this time around. It was hearing about the young goalscorer that prompted me into coming back, and he's done very well most of the time and scored some good goals. I'd rather watch these type of players than journeymen carthorses but that's just me.The other lad who impressed me was a second half sub against Epsom whose name (i think) is Stuart Young.

Why do teams at the bottom always seem to find the woodwork?? Because if they were always on target they'd be further up the table

The RPL has probably proved the most difficult league to get out of even if teams budgets were many times that of the rest of the league and the reason for that is you need the right players. What PD is doing is simply choosing players to do a job and Westy is right up there and is an expert at what he does, he unsettled the bobbins on his own and paved the way for our victory.
