It was always likely that our unbeaten home run in the league would come to an end sooner or later. Better at this stage of the season when the loss of points isn't too costly.
We've played worse than this and won. Although Billericay wasted a good chance to add another goal in the second half, I thought overall we created more, and their keeper had to make a string of saves in the first half before they took the lead from a corner.
With only 7 of our remaining 17 games at GGL, we now need to concentrate on improving our away form.

Well lady luck was certainly smiling on Ricay today, I think they had 2 attempts on goal in the first 45 and 1 in the second half. There keeper was the MOTM pulling off 4 or 5 excellent saves in the first half as for the second half domination, there was a clear tap on Dundo's heels as he was about to shoot 100% pen for me, then hitting the post in the last min summed the game up really it should of been 4-1 to the good guys. Not to say we were excellent today but we were plenty good enough to deserve all 3 pts, Ricay were like a tired out boxer desperately clinging to the ropes really since they scored. PN at fault for the first goal he was never going to catch that ball and a simple tip away would or sufficed. There number 5 was exactly what he showed us, a great big fat arse twined only with the ref who allowed persistent fouling to go unpunished and was inconsistent.
Just one of those games I think as we did little wrong!

They just stuck most of their men behind the ball in the 2nd half & relied on the break. They showed resillience at the back as they did in the match at New Lodge and we rarely looked liked scoring in the second half.
Deffo pen for the foul on Dundas but we have had some decisions go for us lately and in the last two league games they've gone against us. Can't fault the effort but I think we lacked a bit of pace to get around them & they gave us little space in the last third once they went 1 up.
Dundo was unlucky to hit the post in the last min - that would have gone in a couple of games ago. The fortunes of football.
Another less than inspiring performance from the man in the middle, although not as bad as last week he at times looked as if he wished he was somewhere else. I'm all for low key officiating but at least look half bothered.
Finally, our pitch. Awful just awful. Both sets of players deserve credit for providing an entertaining contest on such a suface.

Agree that we've played worse and won, but we just didn't force the issue enough second half. They nicked the goal and worked hard to keep hold of it.
Yes we should have had a pen and yes Dundo hit the post, but that was the total sum of our efforts in the second 45.
We were the home side, we needed to step up a gear and we didn't.

Is Ottaway a proper left back ? If so why not give him a go,it takes Jackson eight touches to get the ball under control.

But were you trying or not? It's very confusing - you did have a great home record, but I guess that's not important any more.....

Not the way our home run should have ended in my eyes. I can accept being outplayed, but all this lot were interested in was how many Sutton shirts they could collect before the final whistle. I am very dissapointed at the ref for not clamping down on the persistant pulling and pushing of players, especially Gav and Westy. I heard that this lot are full time, what, wrestlers? I don't suppose we should have expected anything from the ref anyway, they all seem pants at this level and make some of the officials from last season look good.
Thought we battled hard on a terrible pitch. Can the gound staff not do something about that far side? It looks like no attempt was made to improve the pitch conditions there from Tuesday, not even a sprinkle of sand. Sportstruf need to get busy over the next couple of weeks I think.
On to Harrow next, snow permitting. Lets keep the battling spirit up and work on the football and get those points!!

I don't think 'Ricay have been FT for a good while now! As for the pitch, it actually didn't look too bad at about half one. The stand side is quite firm. But the Collingwood side was soft.
Problem is, both sides warming up on the surface produced the mess you saw at 3pm. And it was the same for both sides during the game.
We had a good few chances 1st half and didn't take 'em. They took one of theirs.

As I said I really think it was just one of those games, there keeper pulled off a string of fine saves and we should of had a pen plus hit the post, so we did create. Ricay are a limited side which their league position underlines and did defend well denied space and got the break due to an error by PN. As Taz said in his earlier post we did not find that extra gear in the second half, but on another day could of scored 4.
As for Jacko I think he is an excellent player and like the way he gets forward, he is almost always there in support of an attack.
