Apologies if you already know all this via Facebook etc......if not, read on!
This summer, Gareth, I and Chalmers will be embarking on a 9,000ish mile journey in a Perodua Nippa EX (all 847cc of it!) from Glorous Goodwood to good old Ulaan Bataar in Mongolia as part of the 'Mongol Rally'. We are doing this in the name of adventure, pure stupidity and also to raise money for two very worthy causes: firstly Mercy Corps who raise money in the developing world in order to help local communities with sustainable growth and development, and secondly for St Raphael's Hospice in Sutton who offer care to the elderly and terminally ill in the local area.
Our route will take us through France, Belgium, Luzembourg, Germany, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia, Kazahkstan, back into Russia and finally across the length of Mongolia and should (hopefully) take around 5 weeks. We will be one of around 500 teams taking part in this year's rally (300 leaving from the UK and 100 each from Barcelona and Milan), with each team using as crap a car as possible.
We are raising money initally for Mercy Corps as we have to raise a minimum £1000 for them in order to take part. The quicker we get to this target, the sooner we can crack on with raising money for St Raphs (which we know a lot of you from the local area will be more than happy to support). We'd therefore need to raise this initial £1000 as soon as possible so if you could help us out and please donate by clicking on the 'Just Giving' link in the signature below this post.
If you don't want to/don't know how to donate through Just Giving, then please let us know and I can let you know the Team's Bank Account details so that you can send a cheque.
Our website is also now online where you can join our Facebook group (if you haven't already), find out more and see pictures of our frankly awesome vehicle (Just click on the banner in my sig). There is also a link there to the main Mongol Rally site, so you can check out the event in more detail!
We're also in need of sponsorship\assistance for preparing the car and there is room for sponsors logos etc (this is a rally after all!) on our trusty steed, so if anyone would rather help us out with donations of a more 'material' nature, please drop me a PM!!
Thanks for reading!!
