One benefit of being out of all the Cups is that we know exactly how many matches we've got to play before the end of the season. There's still around 40% of the league programme left - and no other competitions to distract us from securing that play-off place. Mid February finds us in a minor slump, having lost our last three matches (including the exit from the League Cup) and having scored only once in our last three league matches. So it's worth reminding ourselves how much we've improved (in the league, at least!) during the middle third of the season. We've played 26 league games, and it's instructive to compare our position now to where we were half that number of games ago. Our 13th league match was the 3-3 home draw with Tonbridge on 11 November. That left us with just four wins and 17th in the table. We're since won eight more and risen to 4th. In the first 13 matches our goals tally was F15 A19. In the last 13 it's been F22 A15. However, our recent climb up the table has been supported by a glut of home games. We know that our away form needs to improve - we've lost over half of our games on the road so far. Nine of our remaining sixteen fixtures are away. The good news is that seven of those nine are against sides currently in the bottom half of the table (though the other two are at Dover and Tonbridge, who are 1st and 3rd). There's a way to go yet!

PD did state it was a 2yr plan rather than a quick one season return to the connie sth but with a 3rd of the season to go with have every chance of claiming a playoff spot. To do it our away form has to improve now and we have to play something like a settled side which means being lucky with injuries between now and the end of the season.
