Living just outside of Tonbridge i thought my local knowledge might be of some use to those of you travelling by train who also enjoy a pint or seven!
Trains from London Bridge leave at 08 23 38 and 53 mins past the hour.Journey time to Tonbridge is between 31-39 mins depending on number of stops.
On arriving at Tonbridge turn left out of the station and walk up the high street. The walk to the ground is a good 25 mins. The good news is their are loads of Pubs on the way!
The first pub in the High Street is the Humphrey Bean a huge Wetherspoons that used to be the main postoffice.Does all their usual beer and grub and has a large riverside garden at the back.Well worth a visit.
STagger out of Spoons across the River Medway you will see the medaeval Tonbridge castle. This was built on the site of the original wooden job constructed by Billy the Conqueror and his mates. The silly sods should have used stone. It burned down in1088.
Straightaway you will see Ye Olde Chequers Inn and across the road is the Rose and Crown. For those who like a fag the Rose has asmoking area with a 42 inch plasma tv.Both do a very good pint.
Continue up the road past Tonbridge Public School and at the next junction turn right in to Shipbourn Road.Go past the George and Dragon and go straight over the first roundabout you come to.Soon you will see the Royal Oak on your left and the Greyhound on the right. At the next roundabout turn left in to Darenth Ave.There is a large pub called The Pringles on the corner. The ground is about 200yds down Darenth Ave.
Return trip.Trains from Tonbridge to London leave at04 18 36 46 past the hour.
Hope this info was useful.See you Saturday Wellie.
