A bit of a drab game tonight after Saturday, but we struggled to break down a resolute and strong T&M defence, I actually think their No4 was an elephant in a football kit. We still created the best chances in the game but were unable to get that killer effort on target, these are the games you need to grind out 1-0 wins. I am quite happy we can do well against sides around us who let us play but concerned that we are drawing too many of these matches? Chukki is another concern as he just does not look like scoring tbh and if Gav can't inside the backs then we are struggling to carve out opportunities. Billy a little bit anonymous when he came on tonight and a lot of moves breaking down with a bad final pass, maybe something a little more direct tonight would of suited us better with someone like Westy starting?

There was plenty of effort this evening but not quite enough invention. With all due respect to T&M, this was the sort of fixture we need to be winning if we're to finish in the play-offs. We've now only won one in six which isn't really good enough.
To be fair to Tooting they defended stoutly and created about as much as we did (which isn't saying a lot).
One positive was the performance of stand-in right back Oscar Lubwama, who had a confident game and got forward well. He deservedly got the MOTM award.
With Carshalton finally losing away, we've closed the gap on them to two points.

Although I felt we had the better of the chances, Tooting did have a very well marshalled defence and would be a little hard done by if they conceded. The concern for me was the number of time we needlessly gave the ball away tonight - stray or weak passes going straight to Tooting players, we could have easily let one in and lost tonight.
Frustrating game, although no one had a really bad game. Only comment really was probably Westy would have been better coming on than Billy near the end - needed his heading ability to break down the defence.
Still, clean sheet, and not a defeat, clean bill of health..its not all bad news

Not sure either Billy or Westy are match-fit at the moment to be honest, which probably explains why the substitution was so delayed.
Still, a drab game that we didn't lose I suppose, and a 3-point lead over Dartford now. A draw at Tonbridge would probably have been the ideal result but I couldn't help smiling when I saw that result come through.
Considering T&M fans still make such a big thing about our rivalry in the 1960/70s, I really find it a bit odd that no more than 30 came to support their team!!

There were quite a few Tooting supporters in the stand.

I actually thought it wasn't a bad game for a 0-0 draw. Ok maybe the quality wasn't there tonight but it was a local derby and T&M were wel up for it. As I was not expecting a win on Sat, I suppose four points from these two gams is still a good return.
My concern is with a couple of suspensions coming up the squad is going to be really stretched. Harry O on the bench on Saturday?
One other thing, last night's refereeing peformance was a huge improvement on what has gone before recently. He didn't get everything right but then when do they (We!!)?

Gareth, why do you just look at behind the goal and assume that there are the only about 30 TMUFC supporters at the game. To be fair you only had about 80 - 100 behind the goal yourselves, but there were more than 130 people at the game. As Billy has pointed out there were many in the stand, and like me many don't like to stand behind the goal, I spent the entire game on the steps near, is it Roses tea bar, with a number of TMUFC supporters in the second half. I would estimate that we contributed a good 100 towards the total. Someone estimated earlier that they thought that only about 400 people would be there, so I think a crowd of 479 is not bad considering CL was on the TV.
As for the result, I thought we deserved our point, as you are probably aware we are not in the best vein of form and a point against a team in a play off position constitutes a good nights work for us.

To be honest Gary, I've seen us draw (and lose) to teams much worse than yourselves - I'm glad to get a point. Certainly one of the best defences i've seen at GGL for a while.
Agree with Mr Frake too - after some of the complete jokers we've had game after game since Canvey, it was a relief to see a ref generally doing the right thing, although at times was a little card shy when he shouldn't have been!

Tooting had a good defence and were up for the local derby. We lacked imagination in attack and quite frankly we misplaced more passes last night than i care to remember. With a bit of steadyness in front of goal Tooting would have won last night and thats a worry. In the first half our young right back was all at sea and i don't want to be too harsh, but MOM? Chukki has to start scoring goals very soon otherwise we will struggle to make the play offs.

I thought Oscar did very well for his debut hence why I gave him MoM. Ok, so he was a bit rash in his decision making a couple of times, but other than that, not bad at all.
Besides, no one else (bar Gav) stood out enough for me to be worth it.

I was surrounded by Tooting supporters in the stand, and again on spending the last 10 minutes in front of the tea bar as mentioned.
As for the foul mouthed idiot shouting a constant stream of abuse (was it one bloke ?) what exactly do you have to do to get thrown out ?
It doesn't matter that much to me as i'm normally on my own but it must be horrendous if you have children in tow.

As former Chief Steward I would pont out it is etremely dificult to eject anyone these days for anything. If you so much as touch someone they can go for an assault charge and there is rarely enough back up around if things get nasty.
Normally a quiet word will do. It works with me (or has in the past). LOL.
