Another frustrating home draw, but a very different game from Tuesday's 0-0 against Tooting. This was a much more open game, with a hatful of chances squandered in the first half, while the goals that came in the second half owed more to goalkeeping errors than clinical finishing.
Harrow took the lead with a speculative volley that Nicholls watched sail into the net, then Bentley Graham grabbed his first senior goal with a low shot that the Harrow keeper Baptiste might have done better with. Matt Hann's header over a stranded Baptiste gave us the lead, but Nicholls's fumble following a late corner allowed Harrow a share of the points.
Overall we were the more wasteful of the two sides - but ultimately, as against Maidstone, it was our failure to defend a narrow lead in the closing minutes that was our undoing. Harrow could argue that they deserved at least a point, as they had what looked to me a stonewall penalty turned down at 1-1 when one of their players was barged over in the box.
We've now failed to win in any of our last four home games, and must now hope that our away matches bring more joy. We're still clinging on to fifth place, and are only a point behind Carshalton (defeated 4-1 at Staines ;D), but now have Dartford breathing down our necks. If the Darts get anything from their trip to Hastings on Tuesday then they go above us.

Nicholls would be a lot better off if he was to cut out about 95% of his incessant, needless chatter and spend a bit more time in his penalty area. I thought he might have caught the first one in his mouth - he never ever shuts it.It's one thing marshalling the defence for freekicks, corners etc but why on earth is he barking out instructions to players when the ball is bouncing around the edge of the Sutton area ? His distribution is poor as well, often knocking it straight to the keeper at the other end or throwing people "hospital" balls. Next time i'm in my armchair watching the Cricket i will be staying put.

Disagree with you completely Billy.
For me it is important for a 'keeper to talk. You ask our defenders whether they would prefer someone behind them who communicates or someone who says nothing, I think I know what the answer would be. As a hacking old Sunday morning centre half myself, my favourite 'keepers were the ones who communicated effectively.
OK, he will not be happy with their second goal today but made an outstanding save in the first half and over the season has been a plus for me. He kicks well, is a good shot-stopper, has a good one-on-one success ratio and, IMO, his talking is a good thing.
When a goalkeeper makes a mistake it usually costs a goal. C'est la vie. Please concentrate on the good things our players have done this season.... he too has done plenty.

Er,where's the insult in my response? I'd say it was more advice than an insult, although from what I've seen the cricket is pretty slow going at the mo. Believe me, if I wanted to insult you on here you'd know about it!!
I think PN can infuriate at times but have to disagree with you over that blinding save he made in the first half. The ball was crossed from the right so he had to cover his left side of the goal & then get across to produce a superb stop. He does overhit the ball at times but is far better with his distribution than 'keepers we have had in recent seasons.
He also made 2 other good saves during the game. Overal, I've seen worse down the lane over the years and I have seen better (Collyer, Fearon & Fitz come to mind). But, having seen every game this seson H&A, he has done alright.

I have not seen a better stop for a long while, it was a top drawer reaction save!

I have no problem with a keeper "talking" but this bloke never, ever shuts up.When the ball is in the other half what's the point ? I can't compare him to many others as the last time i was round there was around 1996.This week i'm beginning to remember why. It says at the top that it's fine to have an opinion but it seems that you musn't dare criticise any of the players, who by the way, haven't won at GGL for 5 games.

You give your opinion and others give there's. I've based mine on 39 years of watching Sutton without any gaps (through thick & thin). I personally go to watch my team to support them.
Football is a team game & individuals make mistakes all over the pitch. We should not be conceding corners in the last mins of the game when only 2-1 up. If we didn't the oppo wouldn't have had the chance to score from one. They got the corner because the outfield players did not close down quickly enough in the last third and Kez had to put in a clearance at the expense of the corner.
Close the game out by clearing your lines. Doesn't have to be pretty at that stage of the game.
At the other end take your chances and make the right choices. We didn't today. Loads of effort but as I said on another thread not quite enough application.
But, hey, while disappointed with the result, I enjoyed the game & I didn't say that too often last season or indeed, the season before that!

I enjoy watching Hann and Hughes in particular and Dunn usually though he overdid it every time he was on the ball today and gave up when he wasn't.
Let's hope the Manager is less charitable than some of you chaps and gives some of these players the kick up the arse they need.

To be frank Billy, there is a difference between commenting and having an opinion on a players performance and making it sound like a personal vendetta - i'm afraid your rant on here leaned more towards the latter. It certainly follows on from previous comments you have made on here too.
I'm sure Paul was gutted about making that mistake, and i'm sure the management team told him so too. But you, like anyone else, are entitled to your opinion on here. I'd say that you don't rate Nicholls as a keeper and thats fine, although from what I saw of that second goal, the defence should shoulder some of the blame for it too, just less obviously.
More of a concern for me was the chances upfront that were not taken. Was it just me, or did Chukki have a bit of a shocker? Is he a "Target man"? If so, he's not getting the service, and he's playing far too deep. Is he a striker that can create chances? I'm not sure. Now give the guy a break and I know he's been out for a while, but since his return, i've not seem much going on there. I know Dos rates him highly, and before his last injury he had some magical moments, but would have been better to give him a couple of games in the reserves to get him match fit? He doesn't look it at the moment. But it would be unfair of me to pick out Chukki, I just think that some of the chances we had today, and more so on Tuesday we should be putting away.
I know we should be in for the play offs, I don't want us not to be there because of our own failings. Known for my awful predictions, I think we will make it, but its going to be right down to the wire

Yes PN makes mistakes and has probably cost us 3 or 4 goals this season but he has saved us far more, if he made no mistakes he might not be playing in the RP?
Not making the playoffs will feel like relegation especially when we know we are good enough.
Chukki very worrying, he has a proven scoring record but on that one on one today he looked like a defender rather than a striker letting the ball run away from him, something is not right with him?

He's not fit no doubt, as is the case for alot of our players at the moment, Dos has admitted we're playing players like Chukki and Kes who aren't fully fit cos we don't have alot of other options, Hughes and Westy aren't 100% either.

Strange that about Chukki.Something i noticed about him several matches ago but was assured he would come good. For me its time for Dos to show him the revolving door and i'm sure that would free up a lot of budget.I'm tired of seeing Gav run his socks off up front with no support. Got to disagree with Billy about Nicholls. For me he is streets above any keeper we have had here for the last ten years. Were up there and it looks like 5 teams are contesting 4 play off spaces.if we can get our injured players back i'm confident we can make them.
