Eastleigh FC are delighted to confirm they will be holding a Testimonial Game for the true Eastleigh legend - David Hughes - on Sunday 26th April (ko 2.30pm). The game will be between a David Hughes X1 (Manager, Lawrie McMenemy- to be confirmed ) and an Ex Eastleigh X1 (Manager, Roger Sherwood).
Hughsey has been delighted by the response from players invited, and he has already received acceptances from the following:
DH X1 include: Matthew Le Tissier, Bruce Grobellar, Jim Magillton. Jason Dodd, Francis Benali, Claus Lundekvam, Micky Adams, David Howells, PerryGroves, Kenny Sansom, Steve Wood and Neil Heaney
Ex EFC include: Adam Gage, Stuart Hare, Mark Barrett, Andy Scullard,Dean Byrne, Wayne Shaw and Paul Sales.
This fantastic celebration will be a real family day out, and tickets are just £5 each - with children under 12, free. Tickets will soon be available from the EFC office, or by telephone (02380.645520).
I know he hasn't been with you very long but if any player ever deserves a testimonial it is Hughsey, so I hope a few of you can get down to the Silverlake Stadium to support Dave.

I am sure there will be quite a few from Sutton at the match. Could you let us know if admission will be possible on the day without advance purchase of a ticket?

A few of us have said we'd head down, i'm sure Hughesy will be able to bring some tickets up so we can buy them from him rather than have to risk not getting one or missing out.

Sounds like it could be a good afternoon out. Even SWT are running something resembling a service on the day!!

The event has been mentioned previously. I'm sure a few of us are likely to head down to wish Mr Hughes well. Plus drink a bit as well.

Sorry, but am I missing something here? The 26th April is the day after the Hornchurch game (which may be a play-off decider), which, all being well will mean we're in the play-off semi on the Tues/Weds and the final the following Saturday. There's no suggestion I hope, that David will be doing anything more than a gentle walk on/walk off on the Sunday is there? Four games in 8 days will be too much for those legs!

1800+ crowd for Hughesy, Southampton beat Eastleigh 2-1. Westy and McKimm played most of the 2nd half for Southampton, Westy nearly getting on the scoresheet. Chris C was watching too.
Great to see such a turn out for Hughesy, who said in the post match interview that he wants to carry on playing for as long as possible, but doubts he will go into management or coaching.
