The reserves who were missing there whole back line today,Richard Blackwell on duty with the first team,Bradley Duke with an ankle sprain and a small chipped bone in his foot(will be back next Saturday)and Alex McKay on tour with his university, just about edged a 1-0 win over bottom side Walton, although it was a completely new Walton team,as Les Cleevly had brought in alot of new faces.Sam Clayton got the winner with a second half penalty, but Walton did have chances and caused us a few problems, but the biggest problem was the wind,as this was another game of two halves with the conditions as they were. The good new with this win was that with Basingstoke only drawing with Harefield and the Cars from down the road losing at Beaconsfield,we now sit proudly at the top of the table for the first time since before Christmas. The team with all the changes battled well and it shows how important the win was.Hopefully will have both Blackwell and McKay back for the visit of Uxbridge on Monday and Bradley Duke just needs a weeks rest for his ankle and bone problem and will be back nest Saturday for out visit to Wealdstone.Latest League Table. SUTTON UTD P 27 PTS 56 +37,Basingstoke P27 Pts 55 +26,Carshalton P28 Pts 52 +26,Hayes P 26 Pts 51 +38,Ashford P25 Pts 42.

And other than Sam's cooly taken penalty, the most dominant display on the day was from the wind. Walton did play well as a unit, and attacked down the channels, but you have to wonder what we'd have done had the wind not scuppered the passing of both sides. Think they'd have given us a good game, but we would've been able to play more. Still, we earned the win on Saturday, and that's the main thing.
