For those that have been following the Crawley shambles over the last 18 months or so.
There is a very strong rumour which may become fact today that the untrustworthy owners the Majeed brothers are appointing the untrustworthy ex Boston manager Steve Evans as their new manager today.
If this is true I reckon the Crawley story has a lot of mileage left in it yet

You've got to feel for the Crawley fans. It's one massive soap opera down there at the moment!!
As an aside, Andy Hessenthaler was strongly linked with the Crawley job. He was then tipped by BBC Radio Lincolnshire to take over the Boston job. And has just been announced as the new manager of Dover!!

Having finally got shot of the Majeed brothers, Crawley go and appoint Steve Evans. Wouldn't it have been sensible to choose somebody with a slightly less blemished reputation?

Not sure they've got rid of the Majeeds at all AA. As far as I know, they still own CTFC. An absolute nightmare combination. What with Crawley, Northwich and Halifax in dire straits financially, the Conference AGM on the 9th June should be an interesting afternoon. Something tells me Alty might just get saved again EDIT - forgot about Boston as well. There's nothing like a clean bill of health to show off to your new sponsors

The Majeeds are still well & truly in charge at Broadfields, having just very recently missed yet another CVA payment deadline.
God only knows what Begbies Traynor the administrators are playing at. Any other business, let alone a football club would have been wound up long long ago.

Evans and The Majeeds - truly, truly magical. It's a good job we have that "fit and proper person" test isn't it ?

Azwar Majeed has just released this statement:
The statement reads as follows:
I can confirm that the amount of £175,000 and £20,000 in costs has been made to Begbies Traynor, which covered the full amount of the CVA. We were advised that all creditors would be paid in full before costs were paid but this has not been the case. A percentage of this payment has been distributed to Non-Football Creditors, but a large proportion was taken by Begbies Traynor for remuneration.
We now have to find a further 6-figure sum of money to ensure creditors are paid in full by the 30th June 2007.
The CVA has also been increased by a further £64,755 from secured Football Creditors who accepted an out of court settlement in October, but through advice given to them by Malcolm Filmore have now decided to pursue compensation claims. These ex-players are Paul Armstrong, Jamie Cade, Neil Jenkins and Scott Ward.
Regretfully, this means the plans for next season have to be restructured.
I planned to invest £350,000 next season in order to bring the players budget up to the same level as last season, but due to the inflated claims re-submitted by the secured football creditors, our budget has had to reduce by £2,000 per week. Fans will be aware that promotion winning teams have a large budget of around £20,000 per week. Our budget is now not even half of this.
Obstacles like this and bogus buyers all in association with the Devils Trust, have always jeopardised the future of the Club, but I will continue to provide financial support to Crawley Town FC and true supporters will believe that the long-term success and the survival of their Club is the ultimate goal.
Personal attacks on any member of the Board, Players or Office staff will no longer be tolerated and we will take the correct and necessary procedures to ensure these slanderous accusations and defamations are stopped.
I can also confirm that there will be representation from the group at the Fans Forum on Monday 18th June to answer questions regarding the CVA.
I don't think he's happy.....

Then stop making personal attacks on him. Is he more tolerant of impersonal attacks?

Promotion winning teams have a budget of £20,000 per week. That would last us half a season!
