Gee that's not good news at all. What they have done there has been brilliant for British sport and frankly i don't know what the Conference are playing at. There must be something else behind this decision as it doesn't make sense to me.

Why were they allowed entry to the Conference structure at all? A complete farce of a "club" to be honest

This seems rather a puzzling decision. TB have been told they can't progress any further up the pyrmaid, but why not carry on playing at the highest level they can? It might still be possible for the club to change its constitution whilst a member of BS South, so opening up opportunities for the future. Does the club intend to compete next season at a lower level?
I suspect that we're not being told the full story.
The knock-on effect is that Thurrock will probably be spared relegation to the Ryman. That would be one consolation if we stay down.

Annoyingly, the fact that Fisher are almost certain to fold at the end of the season as well could mean Bognor being reprieved too. Which is not a consolation if we stay down!

In my view they either have to be a true university team of genuine students or a club funded on whatever commercial basis suits, as long as that basis does not involve public money. If they can meet those criteria fine, if not they should not be competing in the pyramid at any level.

There have been debates elsewhere about how Team Bath are funded. I have tried to find out but didn't manage to get a full answer. However, it seems to me unlikely that very much of TB's funding comes from public money.
Most money paid by Government to universities these days is for research. Otherwise the universities are supposed to fund themselves from the fees they charge their students, and from commercial activities (e.g. hiring out accommodation and facilities). Of course, the students usually have to take out loans to pay for their courses.
I did establish that TB have commercial sponsors, though I don't know how much they contribute.

When I were an undergrad, my tuition fees were paid for by the London Borough of Sutton. The loans students take out are generally to cover living costs, not course fees AA.

My tuition fees are very much not paid by the London Borough of Sutton as the yearly dent in my parents bank account will testify!
University education in this country is a joke anyway.

That's because you insisted that you were Welsh and hence you became inelligiblle.

Is it the education or the students?
