Yep. Was the night we clinched our last Isthmian League title. Game had been postponed from the tuesday & re-scheduled for 2 days later. The celebrations lasted long into the night as I recall.

It almost feels like it can't be ten years ago, and yet equally feels longer. I remember coming down from Manchester in my suit that I had to wear in the London office the next day (having blagged the day in that office because my Canvey supporting managers appreciated my trip). Needless to say, running on the pitch and hugging Nko didn't do the suit any favours given the slight muddiness. Happy days... www.independent.co.uk/sport/a-stylish-finish-to-suttons-advance-to-elite-company-1089068.html

30 years ago seven intrepid U's fans were just embarking onthe second leg of a journey that would end in Chieti, a few miles inland from Pescara on Italy's Adriatic coast. It was a Monday evening.
Sorry to hijack this thread - well I'm not really!!

30 years since Chieti; hard to believe. We don't look a day older! Although I'm at Fulham on Saturday a part of me will be at GGL hoping and praying for a Sutton win. It's about time the fans were rewarded with another bit of glory. Three wins in the coming week would do nicely. We weren't given a chance in Italy 30 years back so why not?. Come on Sutton!

Had to miss yesterday's big game but thoughts of 30 years ago in Chieti also reminded me of the week in Sorrento the following year. If you were there, I can confirm that the bridge "supported on bricks" is still there and still balancing in the same way. Still a few hovels too ;D

Yes, but not near Sorrento and a slightly better class of hovel.
