Seems they're changing their colours to red & white for next season, with a black & white away strip. www.carshaltonathletic.co.uk/frames/page23.htmlAnd from what I can tell, it's simply because its' way cooler for the kids and 'easier' to get than maroon. Oh and their badge is being sexed up as well. No doubt to make it more 'street'. Hope they got a good price for their soul........

New kit colour, new badge....it's like a whole new franchise down there!!
When's the name change? I quite like the sound of Carshalton Cosmos....or Dipre's Dynamoes.....or Hayden's Hawks maybe?

Of course you lot like to take the piss, that's your job to an extent; but the undercurrent has the potential to reach a lot further than Colston Avenue. I was surprised that there seemed to be very little opposition among the fans at GGL when your shirts were ditched last year: maybe you thought they were crap colours, in which case I sympathise! ;D The bigger agenda is to do with fans' loyalties and views being trampled: your response plays into the hands of the management 'divide and rule' strategy. Remember Pastor Niemoller, for those of you who know the reference. If you don't see www.hmd.org.uk/resources/item/28/

As far as i recall Rob we're still playing in our colours although the Errea interpretation of amber was a bit loud!
Best of luck with attempting to remind your Führer that you might want a say in things.

Exactly ! The intention is that the 2009/10 shirts will not be quite so canary-like. One of the problems with amber is that different manufacturers produce it in different shades, and we've worn a variety of slightly different hues over the last 40 years. I thought the 08/9 kit was really nice, but admit it was a bit too yellow.

Thing is Rob, Dos was stating his personal preference. Like a few people out there, he wasn't keen on the choc being so prominent in the kit. But he's the manager, not the 100% sole owner of the club. So even if he desperately hated the colours and wanted them changed, he'd have to persuade the board. And us. Dipre on the other hand can just do what the feck he likes mate. Trust me, I actually sympathise with you lot on this. One of the few things clubs at this level have going for them is their identity which usually comes from their colours\history. Maybe you should let Mr Dipre know that AFC Hornchurch might have a red & white kit they'll selling cheap soon if he's THAT keen on the colours.

The truth is I still have a soft spot for the Bobbins, dating from when I use to watch players like Peter Cadman, Peter Kenchington, Bob Batt (now there was a headcase!) in the old Athenian League days and have always liked their distinctive maroon & white kit. I'm very sorry that this part of their identity and history will be lost. But what makes the decision laughable is the suggestion that the youth of the area will flock to their side because they are playing in red! Oh and, incidentally, robins are predominantly brown.

Chocolate, of course, is a shade of brown, which implies that all Robins fans are secret U's supporters QED !

They should change their kit to blue if they want the youth of Carshalton to flock

I have some sympathy with the views expressed by Bobbins but it has to be remembered that Dipre has come in and offered the club a lifeline even taking them to the playoff semi final and putting money in to allow the assembling a decent team. You either back the guy 100% or you don't back him at all and if that means some changes you don't like then you just have to accept them or return to where you were before he came in.

Thing is OS, why should people back a guy 100% when all he's done since he arrived is talk (when he's bothered to communicate at all that is) AT them and not too them. And if you don't agree, you get banned from the club!
It's not like he turned up with a vision and invited people to get on board. He just did it. And bollocks to everyone else.
From what I've seen\heard so far, he's little more than a poor man's Graham Westley. Same line in shite business buzz speak, a few quid in his pocket and an "It's my money, I'm in charge, f*ck you" attitude.
At least Farnborough won something.
