Spreading the cost but still not economical because you're paying the 'call-out charge' again and again, maybe if money was saved every season though...

I am not an expert on this but you cannot just replace part of the pitch, the whole lot needs digging out and a proper drainage system put in then I think its a series of grills and whatever they put on top of that followed by a layer of sand etc before you get to the turf. Its that which would cost @100k plus I think we have a water main running diagonally across the pitch which might cause problems? As far as I am aware our pitch is a good old fashioned one on ordinary dirt and mud and there is not a lot you can do with it if the water does not want to drain naturally.
I have mentioned the possibility of starting a pitch fund a while back but when you consider the club needs every penny it can get to pay the bills and get in the best squad we can its very difficult to make an argument for it?

You say we can't replace part of the pitch but i'm sure we have in the past.New drainage was put in on the side opposite the stand as it now drains much better than previously.

What we need is a grant from the FA. Do we qualify for one in any way???

Drainage is not the only problem. Unfortunately, two different grasses grow on U's pitch (so I've been told) & as they will not grow together, as the pitch becomes worn, the grass grows in tufts and the surface becomes bobbly.

At least we're not Redhill, they play on sand and rock.

Yep! I think Robins' is on chalk & therefore should drain better. Half the Boro' is on clay the other chalk, I believe.
