The new players certainly had a bit of spark in what really was a dull game. Overall I think we edged it, and some impressive debuts from the new players, most of which I can't remember the names! Matt Hann was impressive though, and looked dangerous at times, and it was one of his 'Aylesbury' style attacks which led to the penalty.
A good workout for a lot of new players

I thought it was a pretty poor match really. I could see the No.9 (Laurent Hamici) getting a lot of cards this season, he seemed pretty aggressive and was swearing at linos a couple of times etc.
I don't think I'll make the trip to Winchester....

Er, the no 9 was Laurent Hamici and he was with us last season and is a contract player.
Yep, it weren't great but what did you expect from a brand new team in the first friendly of the season? Give it time.

Report (sort of) now on official site but I'm sorry, three of the players were totally new to me as well. I can confirm that we have signed Joseph and Roberts though

I knew he wasn't new but I forgot which one it was, I've never remembered names very well Oh I'll give it time, I'm not like that Billy! EDIT: Also, sorry for sounding so negative before, it did bode well for the next season.

Dragged a mate along for his first live football experience and he actually said he quite enjoyed it... lucky him I thought! Some really promising moments though and it's nice to be able to look forward positively again. The next game I'll make looks like being the Spurs one so I'm sure we'll have gelled a bit by then.

Not a classic game by any means but for the first game of the season I took quite a few positives from it: - Basingstoke are preparing for a season in the league above and we matched them - As the game went on our passing improved and, whilst we didn't create many chances, there were a few bits of play that hinted at the more creative and pacey way Dos plans for us to play this season - Goodliffe looked good at the back (unlucky with the own goal) and a threat coming forward for corners - We took some corners that didn't go straight to the man at the front post - Matt Hann looked lively when he came on for the second half, as did some of the other subs whose names I can't remember - There are still a few planned regulars to come into the team
