Final score 2-2. No new faces. We went behind after 47 seconds but apparently were always playing quite well and came back from 2 down.

I know the results of pre-season friendlies are fairly irrelevant but this will no doubt give the team a confidence lift - getting a result against higher opposition. Roll on some home games now!

The updates were very live I can tell you!!
Our best performance so far, took a few minutes to get going, but we were more than a match for a team above us. 4 well taken goals, although the only gripe was the match was a bit too physical for a friendly at times.
Hawes goal was a brilliantly worked moved too

This was my first match of the pre-season programme, and I thought the performance was fairly encouraging. An away draw against a side one level above us is a respectable result.
That said, Havant had a couple of near misses apart from their two goals. I also got the impression that they thought the game was won once they'd gone 2-0 up and perhaps relaxed a bit too much. But both our goals were well worked, the first with Hamici's fine run and short pass setting up Payne, and the second on the break with Hawes keeping his head to slot the ball home. We now know that the re-shaped team can score from open play!
More of the same on Wednesday please.

Nice to know the second half went well, the first half (all i got to see as i had to leave for work at half time) was the usual pre-season disjointed cack. I had more fun at work...  Still, 90 minutes with our "first choice" players and 2 goals. If that's not clicking quickly i don't know what is  Bobbins lost 3-0 against Bromley in their new kit andy578.fotopic.net/p59670283.html. Sounded like they had a lot of the game first half though if the Bromley live text is to be believed but both Gareth Williams's ruined it for them. |
