Lost 2-0 in the end. Promising second half, unluckly with the second goal. Some great oppourtunities too, Danny Phillips is slowly, no quickly, becoming my fave player...

Yeah second was on about 86 mins and our sub keeper (who had done well till then) came out to clear a ball he was never going to get, from my pov, and gifted them the goal.
However we had chances and generally looked lively.
The step over, jump over and fall over by DP was superb and even though he was on his ass he still came away with the ball!! Totally played for......

Overall a good performance 2-0 a bit harsh as we defended really well after the goal on 3mins against a young fit strong Palace side with a quite a bit of pace. I though AJ had a great game as did DP and similar to Wed's game we came more into it as time went on with some decent moves. Lauren I thought was excellent when he came but showed he was no goal poacher when with a couple of mins to go a deep cross to the far post found him still on the edge of the box with his arms out when he should of been busting a gut to head home unmarked. Not picking on Lauren because he had an excellent half but as a team we have still not found the striker we need to bang em in week in week out and its going to be mighty difficult to get promoted without one.

The second goal was actually (if we are laying blame) down to Kes not getting enough contact on a back pass, leaving GP as good as stranded. I was right in line when it happened.
As on Wed, we seemed to get better as the match went on but could not find the net. Agree that LH had an excellent half - more of the same please!
Not sure giving Dany Phillips, MOM for 45 mins is sound judgment. Why bother in a PSF at all?

I thought we played some tidy football, and I agree that Lauren Hamici showed excellent skill in the build-up play.
We got punished twice for slack defending.
What concerns me a little is the lack of a goal threat from our forwards. But it's difficult to judge that when we're playing full-time opponents who tend not to make many mistakes. The matches against Dulwich and Met Police may be better indicators.

I think generally things are going in the right direction, we defended well against a well organised, tidy passing side, but I share the concern about where the goals are going to come from. Laurent H's form is good and he will score a few, Billy will too but he continues to struggle to concentrate on anything other than his own game; sometimes it can look as if he's not interested but I think he just doesn't really know what he's supposed to be doing when he hasn't got the ball. Special mention also to the Palace fans who were at GGL today, I've only being going 3 seasons but can't remember a more amicable bunch in the bar pre match and half time - good fun.

Considering that we were playing a Championship side, all be it not their full first team, but full time professionals one and all, we didn't look to bad. Good movement and passing when in possession. Good running, closing and hustling when not in possession. Good commitment levels all over the pitch. All that was missing was accuarcy in front of goal. Sort that out and we will be doing very well this coming season.

Not sure giving Dany Phillips, MOM for 45 mins is sound judgment. Why bother in a PSF at all? I think the reason it happened yesterday is simply that it was my birthday, so my friends thought it would be an amusing surprise to arrange for me to name MOM. Don't worry, I don't think it'll be a regular occurrence. Of course, it's totally subjective. But I do think he created far more in 45 minutes than anyone else did in 90 - though I'll give Hamici credit and say he played far better than I've seen before. Just for info, it's "Danny", not "Dany". :-)
