Last night may have been our first win pre-season but we did play away to 2 BSS opponents: we should have won at Basingstoke and they have won both their openng league games and Havant & W won at Bromley last night.

Good report on the official Spurs website. The Spurs side is described as academy based , which probably accounts why some of them looked so young. We may have seen a star of the future, Sutton included of course.

I think some of the passing and movement yesterday, particularly in the second half, demonstrated the kind of football that Dos is expecting us to play this season. It was definitely an encouraging result and the signs are there that the side should settle down into one that is able to play some good football and open sides up. Still a bit concerned about the defence.
Cautiously optimistic about the start of the league season (a vast improvement on the 'concerned' outlook after met police)

Also, pleasing to see the number of decent crosses we have put into the box in the last few games - all our goals on saturday and yesterday were from headers. I think it has been a big failing of the past few years how little we have challenged the opposition with crosses/corners/freekicks - it's such a great way back into a game, especially when you're not playing well, to grab a goal from a dead ball situation.

dof, watch out for John Bostock, Spurs No. 10. I felt he was running the show and we (Sutton this time) only really got into the game when he came off. I feel he is too good for that sort of side which is probably right as 2 seasons ago he was breaking into the Crystal Palace first team.
The second half from us was really good and Payne looks quality.

As Greek said Bostock seemed to orchastrate an awful lot and my three Spurs supporting mates were trying to work out why he was in that side. Maybe he drew the short straw. Good fun last night if you forget the somewhat drab first period and plenty of positives to take into Margate on Sat. Lookin' forward to it!

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the game last nite - yeh Tottenham's squad was young but I thought we were excellent especially in the second half. I think we have the makings of a great squad for the coming season and the new players seem to be gelling well. Two cracking goals from us - one thing I did notice the quality of the delivery into the box. Special mentions to Payne (what a find this kid has been), Phillips, Graham and Dunn who were quality and Goody's header was awesome.
Looking forward to saturday with interest

Maybe I'm a little out of place here, but I get the impression that overall we have a stronger squad than this time last year. Good positive strong showings against BSS teams, a couple of league sides who, although beat us, the score flattered them, and (bearing in mind I wasn't at Dulwich) the Met Police game, where we just took the foot off the pedal after going 2-0 up - something that is less likely to happen in a competitive game.
We did save the best to last night, and the 2nd half was especially awesome. We've made some good signings, and we've certainly clung onto the better part of last season (barring want away players).
For the first month we don't want draws that should have been wins or stupid heavy defeats. At the end of the day with last season, that didn't matter apart from pride, but this season the league isn't a one horse race, so its important we get out of the blocks fighting, and on the evidence I've seen thats more likely - we certainly have a hungrier squad that this time last year (And i'm not referring to Dos's pasta!)
Lets cheer the boys on to a winning start and avenge the 2-0 reverse from April, and as we supporters did time and time again last season, lets show our new players that they are backed by some of the best fans in the country!
