Good frst half performance. creating a few chances, well worked goal, good passing move.
Seem to tire second half and after equalising Hendon looked the more likely to win it, i thought Gargan was looking a bit weary and was surprised Payne came off instead of him for BWG, but we persisted and a good tight little bit of passing in the box and good composure from SG saw him stab the ball in the net in the dying seconds.
Dunno if we deserved it but we'll take it, sorry Johnny, your philisophies came back to haunt you. Good Luck with the rest of the season, always liked Hendon, friendly club.

Both goals we great pieces of quality teamwork - players looking for the free man rather than a punt and hope for the best. In both cases Sam Gargan was the free man, and the more he plays the more he impresses me. Dos's substitutions were a good tactical move - although none had bad games, Graham, Payne and Beaney were becoming more anonymous as the game went on. Although it was a bit harsh for Hendon to let in such a late goal to break their 100% record, I do think overall 2-1 was the right result.
The ref today has "Form" as we say - 2 massively inept performances away to Hendon and Canvey last season did not fill us with joy. Today he wasn't as bad as either of those, but still has a long way to go before he can be described as competent!
One last thing - if you were the Sutton supporter who waved at me on the M40 near Warwick earlier today on the way to the game, let yourself be known - you are probably as shocked as me at seeing a Sutton supporter that far away from a match wearing our tops!
Job done - Canvey on tuesday and 3 points please....

I thought we looked good if a little narrow in the first half and SP should have put us 1 up within the first few mins. I thought we had a good call for a penalty waved away but on the break Hendon did cause a couple of scares. Second half Hendon exploited the width and held the ball up much better than us in the middle and we struggled for 20mins and it was no surprise when they equalised all be it from nothing more than a hopeful punt into the box. Once Dos made the changes and gave us some width we slowly clawed our way back into the game and finished on top and the winning goal came right at the death because of it :-) Hendon fan reckoned we just shaded the game overall and the result was about right, so I won't argue with that. We do look a little lightweight in the midfield when things get tough and if you don't have your wide men on its going to be tough, I thought Hann/Joseph should of come on a lot earlier. Oh Yeh! Mr Frake, I know AJ's tackle was two footed but it does not mean I have to admit it

In my opinion this was a poor performance by Sutton against a poor Hendon side.We lacked ideas, our passing was abysmal and we failed to create many chances. The tone was set when Payne failed to convert a one on one early on but he did really well in setting up our first goal which we almost contrived to mess up.Too many hopeful shots from long distance when a simple pass may have done better.A penalty appeal turned down also that half.
In the second half we were crying out for a winger and someone to steady the midfield but the only chance we created was the winner at the death.Steve McKimm's introduction into midfield was a must as he seems to have the essential positional sense that was needed. However still no winger emerged and we lacked penetration. We need to sort this out quickly if we are to challenge for honours.

Hardly an inspiring afternoon. Paltry crowd, no atmosphere & we seemed to run out of steam until the subs in mid second half.
TBH, I couldn't see Hendon scoring even though they out played our midfield for the first 20 mins in the second half.
Gargan looks a real goal poacher, tucking his 2 goals away well after we had put a passing move together for eac. The first was particurlarly good.
Oh well, 6 from 9, I'll take that but would prefer we put a better performance in on Tuesday.
Could be worse, we could be K's; 14 goals conceded in 3 matches, 11 of them at Kingsmeadow.

I knew it. I bloody knew it! Just as one of our fans walked past me saying what a decent result a point would be up steps Mr Gargan with the winner. Gah!
At half time we were well out of the game. Although we'd made Kevin Scriven pull off a couple of good saves I thought Sutton were well on top, particularly in the midfield battle. Jason Goodliffe was immense and I thought Alan Bray had an excellent first half as well. It looked a good penalty shout at the end of the 1st half as well from where I was stood. Admittedly, I was at the other end of the pitch.
Second half was a different story until Doswell made the triple change. Gary McCann changed things around a bit and we began to threaten - without really creating too much. All of a sudden we were on top in midfield. The equaliser was a bit of a surprise truth be told. I thought the substitutions gave you a bit more impetous again and a draw over the 90 minutes wouldn't have been too outrageous. Cue a quick and bodged goal kick in the last minute, cut back and Gargan has hours to pick his spot.
For what it's worth I thought you were a very similar side to Billericay. Solid, strong and likely to be in and around the play offs come the end of the season. Great to see a good and friendly travelling support. Well done and good luck for the rest of the season.

Gracious words from Hendon. I thought we just about deserved our half-time lead but Hendon had slightly the better of the second half.
Stefan Payne made the explosive start against Margate but I think Sam Gargan may turn out to be the clinical finisher we lacked last season. His second goal today was a real coup de grace! As others have said, both our goals came after good build-up play.
This was certainly a much better game than Tuesday's against Horsham. Hendon are a rather more cultured side. We can expect some rougher stuff in our next two matches!

Am I to be the first to mention "Hot Wayne" - the sign held up by the Hendon supporters referring to their No.11.
Johnny, can you enlighten us?

Good win, if a little stolen. Hendon did enough to deserve a point, but I have to say that we won it with Dos' switch with the subs. McKimm gave us that bit of grunt in the midfield we were lacking and BWG put fresh pace up against a tiring back line who had run their socks off to keep up with Stephan all game. Could this be a pattern for future games? To call Hendon poor does them a disservice I feel. We stretched them in the first half and they put in a lot of hard work to keep closing us down. While it may not make for the most entertaining game, it is far from poor. For poor see Margate . We switched off for about 20 minutes in the second half and Hendon grabbed the upper hand, until the tactical switch. Sam's goals were both quality and worthy of winning any game at this level. We have to stay focused for the whole game though as, dispite Hendon's graft, we will play better sides this season and that 20 min drop off will cost us against them. Let's keep it sharp for Canvey!

Hot Wayne?! I missed that. Haven't managed to get behind the goal yet this season. Wayne O'Sullivan is something of a returning hero after 18 months away at Braintree and Stevenage. Having scored 2 in his first 2 matches back I can only assume he's gone from idol to another level entirely in some fans' eyes!

If I was Wayne, I'd be a liitle concerned that I had attracted a 'special' follower. Especially have witness his 'dancing'.
