Hello Sutton Fans! As I told you when I first started this thread that Alan Pouton would be joining Sutton. I see that he has now played his first game for you. I'm really pleased because he really is a fantastic player. As with all supporters of football clubs there will be some who will not rate him. I see some mention of not being very impressed in another threat after his first game. All I can say is give the man time! But also you may find that the players around him will have to start playing carpet football to get the best out of him. At Dover he was probably the most influential player in our last two promotions, but we have a manager who insisted on playing a good inter-passing game. Alan was the catalyst and helped to make this happen. The other ingredient that we had was a side of young players, mostly local, who were prepared to improve there ball skills and learn from Alan's experience and skill. We also had John Keister who also had experience but was good at breaking up opposition attacks. However, the most important ingredient of all is having a manager who will believe in total football, and coach his teams who make use of the skilful experience in your team. Give Alan a chance and I am certain he can be that player for you. I will certainly now come to your home evening games just to watch Alan Pouton play and to have good football with him.
I would like to add another bit of interest for you Sutton fans: Alan Pouton has joined Sotton and John Keister has now joined Margate. These two were arguably the most important player for Dover in the last two seasons. Keister the destroyer and Pouton the creator! Soon youu have Sutton v Margate so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
I would also like to mention one last piece of interest. I have the highlights of Dover 6 Sutton 1, not to gloat but it does show how to play football creatively. I wish you luck this season and hope to get to a few of your games when I will try and make myself known to you.

As for not being impressed with Poulton I accepted it was a bit unfair for his first game as he did not do anything wrong, I was just so disappointed with our midfield performance. As for the 6-1 is was painful enough being there let alone reliving it

As for the 6-1 is was painful enough being there let alone reliving it Where did the 1 come from? Well spotted! I was hoping that if I said you had scored one goal that you would all like to relive the Dover skill that Alan Pouton was so much a part of! To Delboy! I was at the game when you snuffed us out 1 - 0 at Gander Green Road. That was like our usual performances over the years when we have played Sutton. Seriously though, I shall be coming to your home mid-week games to watch Alan's progress with you. I hope to meet a few of you and have a few beers also. Meanwhile, I will be at Dover tomorrow to watch us playing Hampton & Richmond. Here's hoping for another win to keep us top of the league, but we have a few injuries to our strikers. Good luck to Sutton tomorrow. Martin Shaw.
