He is not a free agent and was not during the transfer window and therefore cannot sign for Fulham until the next window in January. He can agree to join and the club can agree to sell but go he can't!
SP is unproven above RP level so the sensible option is to sell for a low price with future sell ons and appearance money. That way everyone benefits and SP gets his move. As I said on the other thread Les Ferdinand keep Hayes going for years on that basis.

OS, that is a mere techncality. The fact is that come Jan 1st, Stefan will be a Fulham player assuming the scan goes ok.
Good luck to him and I hope he avoids injury in the meantime while repaying U's policy of not standing in the way of a player's opportunity to move up the football ladder, with loads of goals - starting on Saturday.

£25000 is what some premiership players earn in a week.Surely we should be asking for £100000 down with future sell ons. After all there would appear to be plenty of interest in him.

You've got more chance of seeing god than getting a Premier League club to give you 100k for an essentially unproven 18year old on the basis of 6 goals in the Ryman League!
When you consider we only got 10k initially for Nicky Bailey, 20-25k up front for Stef would be a decent deal.

So why are they in such a big rush to sign him? I'm sure other clubs are interested and we also have to replace him.

There's two possible reasons I can think of.
They've either simply decided to make their move now & got the fee and a pre-contract agreed for January. Or as we're not subject to the transfer window, there's a 'loophole' and they can still make signings before January from NL sides like us.

And - more importantly - Football365! www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_5545935,00.html Good luck to him - and when he's scoring the winner in the 2014 World Cup final, we'll be able to say we saw him when he was just an 18-year-old whippersnapper.

All the details and rumours aside, its going to be tough for SP now staying with us for 3 months, he is now the leagues most famous striker and sure to be a marked man on every pitch. Big experienced lumbering defenders coming against this young prodigy with far too much pace and speed of thought for them to match? I wonder if it will change games tactically and give us a bit more space in the middle or allow Joseph and Gargan more time and space?

I think we should throw caution to the wind and play 3 up front - Gargan in the centre and see if SP's and AJ2's pace can cause havoc, especially if they can switch sides. Put DP (no, not that one...) and Cobbs in front of Pouton who can be the playmaker passing it to any of the five as they rotate around the opposition's heart.

A dynamic 4-2-3-1 is the way forward. Gargan - Heskey Joseph - Gerrard Payne - Lennon Phillips - Rooney Cobbs - Lampard Poulton - Barry It'd be pretty entertaining at any rate.
