I finally managed to get to a game this season and boy what a dire affair it was in the first half. Fortunately I was able to look at the 2 WAGS which made it rather more enjoyable that it should have been! Once the subs were made (and it was bold move to do 3 at once) we were a better team and Joseph was fantastic. We were alsways in command and Scriven didn't have a save to make. Their 7 & 11 were impressive and Tarpey did FA thanks to JG who was excellent. The ref had a great game (didn't want to book anyone did he) but could have been helped by the lino as it was a def pen. Didn't here the boos or abuse. If you are reading these and are one of the boo boys please get some therapy. We have 3 clean sheets on the trot and have a good young team that will only get better.
Cobbs was excellent today and quite rightly motm. Hawes foul throws regularly with his right foot in the air!!
If you look on the FA website is says Dartford lost 4-1 but click on the result and they scored 3 goals to Chelmsford's 2!

A deserved win. Walton showed no real ambition, playing poor Tarpey up front with no support. In the first half it was disppointing that we did not shorten our passes and try to play through the midfield but Walton obviously decided to congest everything and so it is then tempting to play the longer ball. Second half was better, with Walton tiring and the introduction of the subs, our passing imrpoved markedly and in the end with a bit more accuracy we could have run out 3-0 winners. I thought the defence handled the dangerman well and anything else that Walton could produce, which wasn't really much at all. As for the moaners: firstlly don't go on at the manager until after the game in the bar I am sure he will appreciate your comments: secondly, no player has ever improved by personal abuse from the crowd. Again take the trouble to have a word after the game. Everyone, was frustrated by that first half performance, most of all the team. At this level all the crowd have a big part to play in the outcome of game not just us behind the goal. Negative comments will produce more negative results so lets give them support rather than knocks while they are on the pitch and then you can hit them with those incisive tactical comments in the Bar afterwards.

There isn't much that can be said that hasn't already. I thought we looked good in the opening 10 minutes and that it was just a matter of settling down before the over-hit balls started finding their targets... wrong! Walton offered little except one slip at the back where we gave the ball to Tarpey forcing Scriv's to slide out and make a decent block.

I agree with everything said above about yesterday's game. IMHO the only reason Tarpey was on his own up front was to try and nick one. From the very first defensive clearance W&H were settling for a replay. Delroy Preddie in goal is a past master of running the clock down but with only 4 minutes to go it was too late to do much except throw bodies up front and their final deliveries were to say the least awful. However that was too close for comfort. For 30 minutes yesterday Alan Pouton gave the most assured and attack minded display I have seen in mid-field for the U's since the 80,s. As they say "different gravy"!! I saw him do that against us for Dover last season. I really hope we can keep him fit until May. Mention also has to be made about AJ2. Not many players can run round the lino and still win the ball and cross it only to find the resulting effort smack the bar. Good entertainment for 30 minutes. But the FA cup always has surprises which is why it is such a great competition and WE are still in it !! Also Perkins looks a strong purposeful player,

Good music played at half time yesterday, keep up the good work..............I still haven't plucked up courage to go for another cup of incredibly weak "tea"...............2.50 for a programme is a diabolical liberty.

Billy dont buy a programme and bring a flask of tea.Sorted! I like to buy a programme,i enjoy Mr Frake's contributions.2.50 is counter productive surely ? Lots of people,or at least the few i speak to,won't pay it. As for the tea,at one pound a throw why not just make it properly ?

£2.50 for a programme is a disgrace. Abroad they give them away for free, just 4/8 page pamphlets paid for by advertising.
Matchday magazines my arse.

Why don't they put one of Paul L's excellent photos on the cover ? A different one every game.

They do Billy, only in B&W, it's a cost thing. Or are you being mischievous.
Most progs in this league are 2 quid but most don't offer the same production value as U's.

The main difference i notice this season regarding the programme (apart from a 25% price increase) is the cover now has a B&W photo as opposed to last season's colour one.
B&W or colour, they use the same photo over and over again...................
