The same name and links in Africa! A BIRMINGHAM football club was rewarded for forming links with a school in South Africa by scooping title glory for the first time in more than 20 years. Sutton United FC landed the Birmingham AFA Premier Division title after a nail-biting battle with local rivals Boldmere Falcons. The club has just formed links with Lungisa High School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, through Wilson Stuart School in Erdington, where United chairman Steve Hughes is deputy head.
Wilson Stuart representatives visited South Africa and took two Sutton United shirts and kit including shirts, shorts and socks will be delivered to the school on an annual basis.
The title race went down to the wire as Sutton clinched the crown in the final game of the season, beating Wake Green Amateurs 3-2 thanks to goals from Sam Hume, Tom Millership and an own goal.
At the same time Boldmere were losing 3-2 to Ajax, leaving Sutton to claim the AFA's top division crown for the first time since 1984.
The club was formed in 1947 and operates six adult sides in the Birmingham AFA, plus 15 junior sides in the Lichfield and Central Warwickshire youth leagues.

I noticed there name a few years back. The African connection is a bit of a coincidence though.

At least Ashford Town have the decency to add "(Middlesex)"!

How high do you reckon we would rank if there was a list of the most common football team names? We have 3 at least, which must rank pretty high! Obviously there's Barcelona, Arsenal, Ajax... hmmm maybe I should get back to work
