The Beavers are the team local to my work. I shall put up a U's scarf on my office window tomorrow...

The attendance actually included.....................me, Alan Payne, Alan Payne Jnr, and....................driving all the way up from Southampton...............Dos !! So, as you can guess, my being there was to enjoy the game ( I left the "scouting" to the professionals tonight !!! ). The 1st goal scored in the 40th min by Hampton was as a result of a flicked on corner, the ball being bundled in by Dean Wells. Up to this point, the game had "ebbed & flowed", both sides missing chances. Aveley equalised as stated above right on Half-Time. The winner came from a powerful strike from outside the box by Marcello Fernandes. The general feeling from the Hampton fans I spoke to in the bar afterwards, was that they'll need to play better on Saturday week !!!

You like having your windows broken then! The yobs don't even know who H&R are - they all 'support' Chelsea. H&R fans are quite posh.

The Hampton game will be a good way to see if we are capable to play at a higher level. The team should raise their game so if we don't do well........ Just went on the Hampton forum and there was no mention of the game last night And the Hampton official site does not give the result

I'm looking forward to the match (more so than to our Trophy tie ) and am pretty relaxed about the outcome. If we win, that would be a tremendous boost and sign of progress, net the club some more dosh, and give us the prestige of playing in the first round proper again. But defeat would be no disgrace, we'd still have had a half-decent Cup run and tested ourselves against BSS opposition, and we could resume our league campaign on 7 Nov still within touching distance of the top five.

H + R is actually quicker for me to get to than Sutton!
Should be a good game and here's hoping for a win and the joy of the 1st round proper again.

AA - "relaxed about the outcome?" Get a grip man! That sort of attitude wins nothing!
Sod that - this is a huge, huge game which, if won, could open up all sorts of opportunities.

I have to agree with AB here. The FAC4Q Round is a huge affair for any club and should not be taken lightly.
I had the enlightening experience of standing next to both Gareth and AB for various periods of time during the equivalent tie last year against Aylesbury. As usual, AB was pacing up and down behind the goal before the game had even kicked off asking me how I could be so calm at a time like this and (ginger) Gareth, after we'd missed a decent chance in the scond half, ended up face-down on the terrace!
