0-0. Certainly looks like after the Lords Mayors show.
Must be nearly over.

Twitter says FT 0-0. Not the worst result as their away form isn't too bad and they'd have been up for putting recent poor reults behind them. That said I wasn't at the game so not sure how we/they played.
Hereford beat basement side Darlington 2-1 at home.

I've not seen such a one sided matched in the league for a while. Waltham offered nothing and were playing for the draw - their timewasting started early in the 2nd half. I lost count of how many chances we failed to convert. Quite a scrappy game too - we were certainly not as bad as against Tonbridge, and maybe there was a certain saving ourselves for next week, but in all truth, we should have won, and its our own fault we didn't. At one point we were playing a 4-2-4 formation and we still couldn't put the ball in the net!

Thought we became a little predictable and they dealt with us more comfortably as the game went on. Think we could have been a little more patient, played a few shorter passes and drawn them out better. The long throw was a complete waste of time, we never looked like scoring from one or any other set piece. There was no aerial threat, perhaps the missing captain would have provided one. Has the long throw worked at all this year? I wouldn't know because I haven't been to all the games. Surely it can be mixed up a bit? Poor attendance today and the side is completely different at home to what we see away - the missing bods aren't going to be rushing back after failing to score for the 2nd consecutive home match.

I think that Dos played the wrong formation from the start and i know hindsight is a wonderful thing but we should have played with two up front. We were our own worst enemy with putting high balls into their box which they cleared with ease.Defensively we were in total command but just lacked the guile up front to break them down. Disappointing not to have taken 3 points against them but hopefully we will come back stronger next week.

Why don't they find somebody to play on the left wing who can actually kick the ball with their left foot ?
The amount of time wasted by their keeper was ridiculous,at one point switching the ball from one side to the other then going into the back of the net to swig from a bottle of water. I thought he was going to phone his Mum as well................
When will the officials ever have the bottle to add on 12/15 minutes ? Not that it would have made any difference today.

Utterly weak referee. Book the keeper early and the time wasting doesn't happen.

WA did turn out to be a banana skin but the fact they were the worst attacking side we have seen at GGL this season meant that they only had one all afternoon from 25yds and that was it. Lots of width and pace but final ball quality and decision making were poor all match. Our system clearly does not work at home and we need 2 strikers up front as we just don't have the movement to unlock compact defences when a draw will do the other side nicely. Sam up on his own is perfect Away from home or if we get a early goal because it allows us space and we are quite awesome on the break, but if the other side just sit back it causes us problems. Next Saturday will be entirely different and the game will suit our style but surely Stefan (or even Billy) has to partner Sam at home??

Decent performance but disappointing result. We had virtually all of the attacking play, but WA came closest to scoring with a long range effort that clipped the bar.
I agree that playing most of the game with Sam as a lone striker looked a mistake on home turf. There were several times in the match when our wide players got in good crosses but we seemed to find ourselves a man short in the box.
If we're going to make the play-offs then we need to improve at home against sides that play defensively. I hope lessons are learned in time for our match against Ashford in a fortnight.
We'd take a similar result next Saturday - although I'm quite sure that will be a very different game.

The answer to billy's question , there are good players with a good left foot at the club but they are not in favor at the moment.

Actually Andy K their timewasting started in the first half and quite early in the first half at that. I 'm struggling to remember a less enterprising visiting team to GGL for some time and it's often difficult to play against teams like that whose only ambition is to stifle the life out of a game and it is especially so if you don't score early as it gives them something to hang on to.
Fair play to the lads that we kept knocking on the door - today it just wouldn't open. Next time it will.

I don't think we did anything wrong today apart from the final ball which was just to predictable or badly hit. The number of time we got behind them we really should of been helping ourselves to 2 or 3 with ease, its not that anyone played badly its simple that we did not find the killer pass into Sam all day. Watching Arsenal (different level but similar theme) playing one up you notice they always have players running in or lurking around the penalty spot ready for the cut back. Today Sam too many times on his own with 2 or 3 defenders around him in the 6 yard box and we are trying for the near post or playing a hopeful ball across it when there is a great big gapping area around the penalty spot begging for someone to run into it for the cut back. I lost count of how many times WA were able to clear the ball from that area unchallenged, you know the bit that Fabregas occupies for Arsenal? I won't be writing a letter to PD but I think he got the tactics wrong today 4-4-2 at home against weaker oppos please

I think the key issue is whether with players you only have for training a couple of evenings a week, you can easily change formation. We definitely needed 2 up against a team that seemed content with a point from the 1st minute, but next week I'm pretty sure that 4-5-1 will be right. If Sam had put away either of the chances that he had in the first 10 minutes, we wouldn't be talking about formations. Still, when you really need a goal, it's disappointing to see Billy Dunn playing down the wing.

We definitely need more bite at home. While I like Sonny, I think we need to start with someone like Danny Phillips who will sit behind Sam and have a real go that defenses like WA's from the start. Taking both McKimm and Pouton off was in my opinion a mistake. If they were both injured or needed to come off for another reason fine, but from a tactical view we lost some presence in the midfield when they both went off.
Next week will be different as our stule of play works well against teams that try to play against us, but we need an answeer to the sides that will come to GGL for a point.
