Hi there folks - just wondering what everyone's thinking ahead of the big match tomorrow. Anyone believe we've got a chance of progressing or will we be happy to earn a replay and play them back down the lane. Should be a big Sutton following for the game and I think we'll rise to the occasion. Hereford have been inconsistent this season. Roll on 3pm tomorrow afternoon.

Personally I think we'll hold our own - we lost narrowly to Notts Co last year and weren't disgraced, and I firmly believe that on our day we are a far better team this year.
I think a lot will depend on how well we/they start. If we can start well, get a bit of a foothold and build confidence, there's no reason why we can't create chances. We're inevitably going to come under severe pressure at points in the game so our concentration and organisation will need to be absolutely on song. Scriven's experience might be crucial.

I think we have a better chance this year to be honest. Overall we have a better team, which can play in different formations. We have the experience of Scriven, but also Pouton, McKimm and Goodliffe, all of whom will be fired up for this. But the plus is we have pace in spades - I can't help thinking last year if we had the pace we had this year, we would have ripped Notts County apart - we were tough, but we were slow. The players we have from last year (Namely AJ, KES and Matt Hann) are all, in my opinion, better players than they were. And added to this we have a variety of players who can score - Gargan, Dunn, Cobbs, Phillips, Bradley WG and Joseph can all find the net, and that's not even counting Stefan Payne, who I'm sure will travel (7 subs allowed in the FA Cup, yes?). But most importantly the biggest change in the situation is Dos and Payne - Dos has experienced this, and used last years one to feed into this years one (Remember, the Notts County game was his first 'appearance' in the FA Cup proper!), and Alan Payne who has much more experience than Westy had (no offence to Wsesty at all)
Overall I think we are an all round better product, playing a team similar to Notts C last year - last year we narrowly lost - this year, I'd expect a draw. The fact we are playing a lot better away this season, and the team are going up there today, rather than tomorrow, all work in our favour.
And its about time we beat Hereford!!!

We've obviously got a chance of a decent result, and I'm confident we'll give Hereford a good game. But we also need to be realistic. We're a semi-pro side playing away against a team of full-timers three levels above us. Any result other than a home win would be something of a surprise.
So let's not get carried away. Inflated expectations carry the risk of crushing disappointment at the final whistle. Lower your expectations and you've a better prospect of unbridled joy - as we found out at Hampton.
I'm looking forward to a good day out - whether we win, draw or lose. A better-than-expected result would then make it a great day out.

Spot on AA, I posted on their board that it is nice to look forward to a game where you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The pressure is on them to get a result not us.

They're towards the wrong end of the table, but their home form is good. So we're going to have to put in a top performance to get a result.....

It will be my first game of the season tomorrow and I am looking forward to a good day out - so how many of our fans do you think will make the trip? is 250 realistic
I know tomorrow is not a typical away day but I''ve always believed that we have enjoyed very good away support for a club at our level (then again its been a while since i have regularly travelled to games!)

Should be nearer 500 than 250 IMHO. I am backing the U's to get a replay btw

So long as we don't find ourselves two down in ten minutes we should give a good account of ourselves and that's all anyone could ask I think. Of course I'd love us to draw or even win but I'm just looking forward to a fun day out with a few cheeky beverages thrown in.

I doubt we'll take 500. I'd say 250 is a more realistic assumption.

I agree with NtG these sorts of games are the ones that make following a team like Sutton all the more special and if the players respond with a special performance then who knows. More than anything I want us to have a real crack at it and show what we can do when we play well. Let's enjoy ourselves with a great day out and show what terrific away support we have. UP THE GAMBIANS!

I don't think our 5-4-1 pleases Billy but its the perfect setup for this game, yes we have to be realistic that the chances of a win or even a draw are slim but they are there. We don't have to do anything in the game, its all up to Hereford and our system gives us the extra man in midfield and if JG, KES and AJ can keep their target man Manset under control and pickup his knock downs which is not going to be easy as they will sling long high balls up to him. We have a chance and I even have a game plan it worked while I was asleep last night We have got awesome pace ready to be unleashed on the break should we catch them upfield, I am not saying its going to happen but the ingredients are there for us? Totally different game from Notts county when we lacked fire power and we got the likes of JG who will not be phased by the game.

I'll think we will get a draw and bring them back to GGL as i can't get to Hereford tomorrow!

Lower your expectations and you've a better prospect of unbridled joy - as we found out at Hampton. I was expecting 3-1 to them that day....

There are 4 of us driving up from Salisbury tomorrow. I confess that the only game we have been to so far this season was the Hampton game. We thoroughly deserved that win and I thought it was the best display by a Sutton side for several season, but I only get to see 4 or 5 games a year since our demise from the FCS. Stating the obvious, if we can keep it tight for 20 minutes or so we should be able give them a decent game. They are 3 levels above us and have to be strong favourites. A draw would be a big result and they wouldn't fancy a Tuesday night at GGL. Let's enjoy the day, make some noise and keep our fingers crossed. See you all in Hereford!
