My dearest colleague Dave, FANS OF THE MOTHER CLUB, board of directors and the entire management committee members… Bruce et al. I cannot tell you in words how relieved and overjoyed your beautiful gift - the serial little donations, and your individual words of gratitude (most especially Os) has made us feel down here.
Normal conventions will require me to say “we never dream´t of or expected any such kindness & love…”, but I say I am far from being surprised with the mother club - and most especially the fans - loving kindness graced upon Sutton - Gambia. Being the Surrey based SUTTON UTD FANS of course meant such blessings will always be bestowed upon us! And it just went further to proof my point of how GOOD and THOUGHTFUL each one of you are. To put it in modern language “You MADE our day”
Now you are all there “Hard on it” while we saw off our Nawettan season knowing you are and will always be caring for and carrying us to our desired goals, drawing the best out of us through the various encouragements as well as patronizing the team and making us feel envied wherever we go.
I know for sure that you are all working together in attainment of the same goal with Paul Doswell leading by example. When things get tough I know you will see that as a challenge for both yourselves and the team. And just to echo a comment made by Os in one of the several email exchanges between us… “ If there’s a God up there, I guess it has an amber-chocolate color with the Sutton crest embroiled on his throne…” I can feel the spirit of that footballing God in the U’s camp at the moment and of course GGL its dwelling place!
Finally I want to congratulate the proprietor and editor of the website; from-the-lane.co.uk and the Sutton Utd Flickr web page - Paul Loughlin. It is through your tireless efforts and determination that I and many of fellow SUFCG based fans in Gambia are able to imagine what the atmosphere is like when the team plays, We look forward to the Hereford pictures.
Finally not forgetting the other fans am personally keen to meet some day; the likes of David Mathers, Bruce, P.D, Taz, Gareth, Gerard Mills and Clive Sopper et al.
Up the U’s ( Sorry... I meant the Gambian´s as in the BBC article ) and just to let the team know that we will be rooting for them from down here as we will keenly be following the match on the Internet, we have already said our prayers and are looking forward to a result come tomorrow evening
Truly yours in Sports,
David
