Very frustrating at Maidstone last night. Different to the last few weeks because we created enough chances to win well before their late goal but only converted one. Individually the team Maidstone put out was weak and most of the passing play came from us. I agree that the subs did not improve the situation and I was suprised that Charlie was taken off as he appeared to be doing well. We have too many players who are playing for bits of games, doing well for a period and then drifting out. We should have won this game but things did not go our way. In fact it was one of those matches when even at one - one I would have settled for a point because you could see it coming - we miss a number of chances and they score right at the end. Hey ho on to the south coast and hopefully we can come up with a 90 minute team performance.

Redhill/Shoreham in the Vase. Segregation? Only when they play Tonbridge, I understand.

I thought Cox came on for Pouton & that is when the match changed - the last 20 mins. They scored their first slightly against the run of play. Sonny should have equalised with only the 'keeper to beat but didn't get enough on his shot.
The penalty decision (or not) was embarassing for the officials. The ref decided no, the lino yes & the ref got the final say! Even so, we won a corner immediately & scored from it. Their 'keeper said that the ball stayed in play from the delivery.
Second half we were well on top but first Danny Phillips blocked a goalbound shot after brilliant work by the impressive Charlie Taylor and then skip hit the bar with a header.
Off went Pouton (he was excellent) & Cox came on & got booked within 5 mins. Maidstone had their best spell in the game as the match entered its finale. Scrivs made his only (but excellent) save before Cox trod on the ball, while on a forward run. 'Stones quickly moved the ball to the right wing & with AJ injured and unable to cover the guy mishit hit his shot only fo it to fall nicely to a colleague to net from close range. Game over.
We played well for much of the match last night but failure to take our chances cost us all 3 points. Droppig 2 would have been bad enough the way the game went. Loads of great passing & good movement from U's but only one goal to show for it.
We've scored 19 in 13 & 8 came in 2 games, therefore 1 goal in each of the other 11 & there lies our problem.

Second half we were well on top but first Danny Phillips blocked a goalbound shot after brilliant work by the impressive Charlie Taylor Gargan's shot from Taylor's pull back was actually blocked by a defender, whilst Danny Phillips was jumping out of the way.

Most of us behind the goal thought it had hit Danny. Your photo appears not to support that fact!
