Didn't we make hard work of that! Should've been 4 or 5 up before Burger Regis pulled one back. We then started to give away a series of stupid free kicks in our own half which gave them lots of opportunities to whack the ball into our penalty area and give us a difficult 15 minutes. It wasn't until the dying minutes (plus the 5 mins added) that we wrested control back from them. There were some very good points though. First, we created a hatful of chances right in front of goal, although we didn't take them. Second, Norwood played well, cutting in and forcing some good saves from the keeper and getting forward frequently enough you would almost think we were playing with 2 up. Third, the goal of the season, from Danny picking up the ball from a BRT attack and making space to play the ball to Billy Hawes; Billy making ground then hitting a superb cross to Sam far side of the penalty area; Sam's beautiful cushioned header back across to Charlie Taylor and his magnificent volley to crash the ball into the goal.

The first half we were completely on top and should have been 3 or 4 up by HT, the penalty was a pen but a bit too theatrical for me? The second goal by CT was just superb although there was absolutely no marking at all, the cross the header down and volley finish was a good a goal as the RP will see this season, simply magic.
The second half we continued to squander chance after chance and Bognor really just throw caution to the wind which saw them become a bit more dangerous on the counter. In the 73rd min a defensive error allowed them to cross low for what looked a simple strike under Kev's body, and from that moment we were on the back foot. As said above we gave away too many free kicks and we allowed them to have free reign down particularly their right flank to ping crosses over. It all lead to a nervy finish which should never of been but overall we were the better side and more than deserved the 3 pts.
A ,lot of good performances today, CT and JN looked good but maybe Sam should look up a bit more on these cross shots, a good footballing side has players lurking for the simple tap ins and we are just not picking up those sort of goals.
We are back in the mix with a big game against Wealdstone next week so we have got to be happy with that :-)
Maybe one day someone will build a proper road that goes to Bognor?

I thought it was a dodgy penalty as he dived over the top of the player for the 1st goal and put Bognor on the back foot. However we should of been 3 or 4 down at half time i was impressed with number 10 and 11 who had excellent games for you who worked there socks off the 2nd goal was really good to shame it cant been seen on match of the day good technique. Your the best team we have faced this season good luck for the season.

From behind the goal it was a clear pen, very poor challenge that the player didn't need to make. Sam did make a bit of a meal of it and I suspect that may have made it appear 'dodgy' from other angles of the ground but it was stonewall.
No doubt that it was a foul, ask the player that made the tackle and if he's honest he will acknowledge it, note also that there were no complaints from the Bognor players.

note also that there were no complaints from the Bognor players. Or from any of the Bognor fans at our end, the defender did play through Sam it was his launch which was a bit OTT!

Better performance than Tuesday mainly because generally we looked good going forward - more passing - importantly quick movement and running off the ball by the two new boys meant we moved the ball quickly and accurately - this also made it easier for Sam to set things up. Very pleasing first half. Second not so good and not sure of the value or necessity for the subs other than to keep players fresh. All in all enjoyed the performance and some very good passing and movement up front that looks promising. The two new boys on today's performance look very good.

I thought it was a dodgy penalty as he dived over the top of the player for the 1st goal. There you go Bognorrock, just to put your mind at rest

I thought it was a pretty clear foul for the penalty, although a couple of the home fans standing near me were decidedly indignant about it. This was a much-needed win, and perhaps we had some of the luck this afternoon that eluded us on Tuesday. Even so, as others have said, we were well worth our half time lead. Charlie Taylor scored a terrific second goal, while James Norwood looks a great capture - one audacious piece of skill out on the wing saw him flip the ball up and behind the challenging full back before curling a shot to the far post that the keeper had to tip over for a corner. In the second half, with the rain intensifying, I thought Bognor adapted to the slippery conditions better than we did and after they pulled a goal back we were hanging on rather. But Jason Goodliffe got to most of the high balls slung into our area and Kevin Scriven made a couple of good saves to preserve our lead. That's most of our long distance trips done and dusted for the season - I think Margate, Waltham Abbey, Billericay and Canvey are the only away games we've got left outside the M25.

I do recall wishing that our crosses could find JG's head as well as the Bognor crosses did! A fine compliment to the quality of his defensive heading.
It has not really been mentioned much this time round but i really enjoyed my trip to Nyewood Lane.
The newly built clubhouse was excellent, as was the welcome and the pint of London Pride, Rocky the Bear, Jack Pearce flogging the raffle tickets and the common sense stewarding.
My burger was terrible which was odd for Bognor but other than that i hope that if we don't make it out of the Ryman this season, Bognor survive to play us again next year.
