At least we've had "some" warning.............better than to get there to be told it was off eh ? Saturday "could" make it 4 out 5 if the weather forecasts are correct !

Who would want to play in this weather anyway?

I don't agree Rambo.
No common sense at all was applied today in my opinion. The forecast was for heavy rain - why was the definitive inspection deferred until as late as 6pm under these circumstances, especially when our team has a long way to travel and a postponement an 80-20 likelihood at best?
The only consolation, I suppose, is that it provides an opportunity for a good training session and one or two injury niggles to sort themselves out prior to Saturday's huge return match with our neighbours.
Happy New Year everyone. Let's hope it is!

The team are mostly there already. They could go out on the pull in Bromley.

Its not really Cray's fault if a local ref comes in at lunchtime and says the pitch is playable, even if Cray think its not there is not a lot they can do about it other then what they did in trying to get the match ref there as early as possible.

I didn't say it was Cray's fault.

I'm with AB on this. I flat out don't believe it rained so unexpectedly hard between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. that the pitch turned from probably playable to unplayable. The first news of the second inspection was posted here at 5:15, by which I had already left work early to get to the game. Haven't they heard of a weather forecast in Bromley?

I am confused then as to who it was without the 'commonsense' then? If its not CW fault and the pitch was deemed playable at 2pm (rightly or wrongly) then what should of happened?

Which Ref, the match one or local one? The local one is called in to assess the state of the pitch at the time of inspection, I am not sure he has the remit to factor in weather which has nor yet happened? Maybe the local inspection should of been a bit later but then you don't know what the guys commitments were. I remember one game against Weymouth a few years back at GGL when a local ref called the game off and we got slatted left right and centre. OK so fault was down to whoever decided to have a pitch inspection at 2pm which was clearly too early with the forecast as it was!

The original post said that the match ref had passed the pitch, not a local ref. He must have come a long way and didn't want a wasted journey! If there was standing water on the pitch at 2 (as reported) and heavy rain forecast for the afternoon, it was incompetent to pass the pitch as playable. Of course I'm just peed off because I need to make up the time from when I left work early (or lose fifty quid):-o

Speaking of work... any early clue as to whether the Scum game's likely to go ahead. I'm not doing overtime at the mo but if the game isn't going to happen I'd be stupid to turn it down. I could do with the money!
