Like Vern, I'm not a fan of cricket. But, as a Sutton supporter who gets to 80-90% of the first team games, I'd be opposed to a summer season.
Like many other people I prefer to travel away during the summer months, whether that be for a weekend or a longer holiday. A summer season would almost certainly mean I end up missing more Sutton games than I do at present. (That would probably be true of the players too!)
I realise this is hardly a showstopper, but summer football would still be a cause of much irritation!

That's crap Vern. I enjoy both equally. When I was active I played both sports for 52 weeks a year. Easter and late summer were a problem but when you are fit you think you will play forever. Many times I played two games of football and a game of cricket in one weekend - opening the bowling too. Of course the seasons did not overlap so much then. I can remember Chris Balderstone playing cricket for Leicestershire and football for Carlisle (He even played for Carlisle during a championship cricket match) also Graham Cross played for both Leicestershire and LCFC. Going back a lot further Denis Compton did too. Gary Lineker could have played county cricket but in his day it was one or the other. What would we do in the winter if there was no footy? Watch darts? lol Balderstone played in a couple of Test Matches,i went to one of them. Here's one for you................... Who was the last man to represent England at both Cricket and Football ?

About the same time as Graham Cross, three West Ham players played for Essex.Eddie Presland (later of Palace) goalkeeper Jim Standen and Geoff Hurst who played for the seconds.

Bob Willis played in goal for Guildford ditto Graham Roope who played for a few others as well Jimmy Cumbes Laurie Fishlock Mickey Stewart Ron Tindall Chelsea 1955 Graham Thorpe was a decent player as a youngster

He played 20 odd games for Manchester United.I saw him once in a surreal game at The Den. Millwall 0 United 1 in the second division. The aforementioned Carlisle were in the first at the time.

Denis Compton was last to represent England at both Cricket and football as far as I am aware? I remember Roopey from his Kingstonian days.

The last person to play football and cricket for England was Arthur Milton (Gloucestershire and Arsenal). Last test 1959, only football international 1951.
Denis Compton actually never played a full international at football - all his England matches were wartime internationals for which full caps were not awarded.
