Nick Baily transferred to Southend for £175,000.

Would have preferred him to go to a Championship side but I guess he'll get more first team football there. How much of that fee do we get, and do we get a percentage of future fees if he leaves Southend?

Pure speculation but isn't the norm something like 10% of the sell on fee?

From the official site's archive:
* Finally, if Barnet sell Nicky for more than the total fee paid to us at that time, we will receive 25% of the excess of that transfer fee.

He hasn't actually gone anywhere yet. Barnet report terms have been agreed but Southend's official site hasn't announced it. Rearrange these words to make a well-known phrase chickens your don't count Of course, some other club might even come in with a bigger offer

Interesting. So if it all goes through we get £41250.
That could prove rather useful.

According to LBC radio this morning, it's a done deal.

I think we get 25% of everything that Barnet "earn" from his future sales.
So if Barnet have negotiated a 25% sell-on clause with Southend, and he's then sold for £1 million, Barnet will get £250,000 of that fee, and then will have to pay us £62500
I suppose it all depends on whether they've negotiated a sell-on themselves though

£41250 would be very useful indeed!

Add that to Matt Gray's fee and hopefully Ian can have a bigger budget this season.

I'd rather see the transfer money from Nicky and Matt get re-invested back into club facilities instead of wasted on players wages personally.

Interesting point Simon, I can definately see where you're coming from. But I do think at least a chunk of the money will quite rightly go to Ian to strengthen the squad. We've lost two important players and, if we are to challenge for a play-off spot as Ian intends to, then we need to match that kind of ambition with our transfer activity, which means Ian needs a fair bit of money to play with.
We're looking at more than £50k coming in, which is the most we've taken in a summer for a number of years (correct me if I'm wrong?) so I see no reason why we can't give Ian the money he needs to challenge for the playoffs, invest in some improvements in facilities around the ground, and hopefully also put some aside for the coming seasons - it might be another few years before we take this kind of money in transfer fees, so we must be sensible. But our board always has been sensible, so I'm sure we will do the right thing with the money - we've never been the kind of club that p*sses money up the wall just for the sake of it.

Who is to say they will be anymore money to spend maybe there is a deficit to fill, I don't know just making the point it may not just be a case of plus 50k? Anyway I don't think it will make too much difference to Haze's plans as I guess his budget will have been set, but maybe the board would be in a position to send some more his way at Xmas if we needed to avoid relegation or a playoff place was a reall possibilty?

Unless that money's been found from elsewhere then the income could already be spent!
