Having looked at the Tonbridge Fans Forum over the weekend its getting very unpleasant. After their 3-1 defeat to Bognor(who played an hour of the game with only 10 men)the Tonbridge fans have turned on their management big time.It is reported that the management account for a third of the budget while the players have taken a voluntary pay cut the managers have not and are on a 18 month contract. One fan states most of the players earn their money but the manager just gets paid. Loads of them are questioning tactics and team selection of you know who.Have they finally realised what we already know? They have a big mouthy tosser in their dugout!

It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch! Their frustration is understandable, as they wouldn't have expected this sort of struggle. They finished third last April, and got off to a decent start this season, but have been on the slide since the autumn and now find themselves in the bottom four. The reduction in their playing budget now seems to be biting, evidenced by Rook's flight to Dartford. His return as a visiting striker in next Saturday's west Kent derby could be interesting!

Rook isn't allowed to play. One of those 'gentlemans agreement' wotsits they have with Tonbridge. Shame. Would have been amusing to see him bang in a couple against 'em.

Taz, I am most disappointed in you...you haven't even said "I blame Doswell"

Unfortunately Tonbridge fans have had their heads stuck in buckets for a while now, it seems almost common knowledge what is happening there and the only people who don't want to accept it is there most gracious and wonderful supporters. TAFC came 3rd last year by overspending, this they had to address at the start of this season which they did with a big budget cut, but it appears that even that money has now gone. As far as I am aware they now only have 11 paid players at the club and still need to offload more to balance the books, there will not be no replacements for the likes of Rook and Ferguson and just how deep the problems run there is anyone's guess but run deep they do.
They have probably the most obnoxious management duo milking them for everything they can get out of them but they is too blind to see preferring instead to vent their anger at anyone else who happens to cross their path.

To be honest you could see this a mile off - 3 teams in the top 5 last year were there because of spending big bucks - Dover (VERY big bucks - any team at this level who can afford the pay their manager 50k a year stinks of cash), Bobbins and Tonbridge. Reading through Dippy ducks' bullcrap about the budget not being cut, you don't have a manager walk out when you meddle in affairs and you don't break up a squad that were doing so well unless financially you had to. The bottom fell out of Tonbridge during the close season, due to Nicky Sullivan moving on - the mistake they made was to give people (including their thug manager) long contract which now they can't sustain.
Its a credit (yet again) to us and Staines that we did so well on a modest budget in comparison (well i'm not sure if Staines was as modest as ours, but they did the tried and tested way of keeping a nucleus of good players for a few seasons - and any club that can make Ali Chaaban a hero must be doing something right!)
Constantly we hear stories of teams falling apart when the money stops - seems like some people will never learn!

And how many of your squad from last year are still with you? Was that team broken up for financial reasons as well? :-)
Congratulations on your win at Dartford btw - maybe there is a title race on after all!

Chelsea Robin, a damn sight more than yours! Really! Looking at your team at Staines away, last game of 08-09 and Margate at home first of 09-10, only 4 players are the same (Bray, KES, Hann, McKimm).

Can prob add Dunn and Watts as part of 1st team squad. All that matters to me is whether the team is better than last year. In my opinion it definitely is. Can Carshalton say the same?

I agree that , although our record id not much better than last season, we are a better team and squad than last campaign. I would also venture to suggest we may have got more than the 1 point off Staines Town with our current players.

Maybe there is a title race on after all! If you still had Hayden's special "one month only" budget there would have been a race all season with you in it I think we've built on our team in two ways, by adding quality like Quarm, Pouton and so on and from the management team learning what they need to get right first. It's not always worked but when the 4-5-1/4-3-3 system goes to plan it's genius and we've reacted to problems quickly, the most recent example being the signing of Obaze when it was decided we needed more height in the box and another example of good management is the shifting out players on loan when they were out of form or needed matches. I would also say that we are using our older and less match fit players more effectively, resisting the obvious temptation to start Watts too early in his recovery or keeping tired players on the pitch.

Surely the point is that the team didn't change for financial reasons. Dos was upfront with his view that he had gone too much for power last year and needed more pace. He also has a track record of making regular and frequent changes to the squad. I don't think the budget has changed much this year and, unlike the clubs being discussed, Dos has to work within a set and sustainable budget.
