Each of these new dates was considerably more than 42 days after the original one, but the League seemed happy. AA, that's because the League Secretary (Bruce Badcock) was trying to help clubs, anybody sending emails to the address published above may want to bear in mind that the enforcement of the rule has come from Board of the league, not the secretary. Games that had already been arranged have been allowed to stand, covered in the statement on the official site, ".. following the league's decision a fortnight ago to enforce that rule to the letter for games that had not already been rearranged at the time of the league's decision." The league cannot be extended, for a variety of reasons including the fact that clubs generally won't want or be able to extend player contracts or pay extra weeks' wages. The Board of the league decided that they weren't willing to risk the chance of further adverse weather causing an even larger pile up, they would rather have free Tuesdays going spare in April. I think every single club represented at the league meeting disagreed with their stance.

I wouldn't mind but the postponement was no fault of Sutton's as it was our away match. -not that Wood could do anything about the weather. As a result, we are being penalised far more than Wood as I believe they have no league fixture scheduled for the Tuesday before. They must be laughing their nuts off.
As it stands this is a big match between two sides in the play-off hunt (although the league is so tight a number of clubs are). This is hardly a level playing field.
The IL maybe able to produce a splendid Centenary Book but it appears they no naff all about semi-pro football.
I notice on the same night K's play Wealdstone. K's have no Tuesday fixture but 'Stones have.
Let's hope it freezes or pisses down with rain & the match is called off.

just a thought - why dont the league "weight" the fixture list towards the first half of the season and try and get as many games played in August, Sept, Oct:? 1. players would be fresher, 2. the pitches would be in better nick, 3. if the snow arrives, teams are not playing catch up late in the season 4. ditto for teams that are lucky enough to have a good cup or trophy run

Its simple really cheshire. Your idea contains common sense and a bit of forward thinking.
That kind of thing never works with footballing authorities at any level from the Isthmian to Fifa.

Rax - yes, 1, but I don't think it really counts as it was only down the road at Carshalton. Annoyingly, we were away for xmas so I missed the 3-0 home win.

Rich, you should try more away days. I prefer them - but not two in the same midweek!

When I started watching Sutton that was exactly how it worked. In those days we also had the London Senior Cup and London Charity Cup to contend with (although no league cup) and maybe also the London Challenge Cup and South Thames Cup. Teams played midweek just about every week until late November.

Sadly not. I saw the 5-0 win over Fulham in the prevoius round but Upton Park midweek was a step too far for my Dad to take me. That was the first season I went to any away games, my "debut" being a trip to Dulwich as the passenger on Dad's Lambretta.

I don't remember much, I think Hurst and Peters played and we lost 4-2
