Just read the story below on the U's site I've only been following Utd, and indeed football at this level, since the beginning of this season - is this kind of fixture congestion the norm? 4 games in 7 days strikes me as a hell of a lot! All away too! Looking at the league as it stands, can we expect a largely reserve team for the Cray game? Despite the fact that both clubs had agreed Tuesday 2 March as the date for our postponed game at Boreham Wood to be played, the Ryman League has ordered that the game be brought forward to Thursday 25 February. This brings the game in line with the rule that postponed games should be rearranged for a date within 42 days of the original date, which was 16 January, following the league's decision a fortnight ago to enforce that rule to the letter for games that had not already been rearranged at the time of the league's decision - the agreed rearrangement was 45 days from the date of the original game. This means that we will now be away to Tooting, Cray, Boreham Wood and Ashford between Saturday 20th and Saturday 27th February and has led to a congested fixture list in the league in February, while April is relatively free of midweek games. It happens. Of course having decisions forced upon you does not help but thats Ryman officials for you.
We have had worse in seasons past. I remember games on consecutive nights but that was in the final week or two where fixtures had to be completed. To do it in February is stupid.

I think its typical of an organisation just enforcing a rule because its there and they can, it has nothing to do with commonsense and pays no regard to either the teams or supporters involved.
If anyone has an e-mail address for anyone at the League I would love to send them an e-mail telling them what I think of em!
I guess they have other jobs too like car clamping or parking attendants or something?
As much as I would like to I am sure I am not alone is just not being able to make 4 away matches in the same week?

It does piss me off that Prem managers moan their tits off about having to play on a Wed and then Sat. Their squad are proffesionals and it's their fu*king job! Our lot are part time and do this for fun/beer money.
Grr.

I get your point but would reckon for a lot of players at this level their football wage is a significant part of their income. That week is going to be a tough ask and PD will obviously have to call upon all the resources, inlcuding using one or two reserves. Possibly a loan signing to help out? Will be interesting to see how we go.

A bit of a nonsense, especially as the two clubs had agreed 2 March as the new date. Our away game at Billericay has been put back twice, first from 7 November to 26 January, then again to 30 March. Each of these new dates was considerably more than 42 days after the original one, but the League seemed happy.

Is Alan Turvey still involved? nuff said They don't always enforce this rule, as pointed out above, so why now as both clubs are not that far behind with fixtures and with a free April too .

Stewart,
Nothing specific really, I love football and live in Sutton, so it seemed an obvious choice.
I'd been meaning to get down GGL for a while, then finally pulled my finger out at the beginning of the season, enjoyed it and have been to most home games since.
