Entertaining Game. Got my moneys worth!
Thought we were poor in the 1st half, but what a turn around. Thought we were excellent in the second half. Thought Billy Hawes and Hanny made a massive difference and changed the game. Was dissapointed by the lack of interest in james norwood and charlie.
Thought we were going to carry on our winning streak but mistakes from Kes and Perks cost us with the last goal. Was dissapointed with Kes and Perks throughout the game, but most dissapointed with Perkins. Thought he was crap!
Up the U's!!

Charlie Taylor poor and I think Gargan should have come on at HT not later on. Saying that, it's the defensive side of our game which failed when we gifted them two goals (though in fairness the first was particularly well taken).
Their diving was somewhat ridiculous and unfortunately the ref often fell for it, even when one their players waited for 30 seconds after a tackle, and after talking to his teammates, to sit down and start clutching his leg - pillock.
A game that should have been won, and we got a draw. But just remember how many times we said that last season.

Why do some teams think that planning a half of time wasting is any kind of good idea? All it does is annoy the oppostion (and fans..) and gets them to raise their game. If Hastings had played like they did in the first half they could have come out easy winners. A brief, glorious moment when we went 2-1 up, but if I was Hastings I'd consider today as 2 points dropped.
Btw, can anyone tell me exactly what the ref thought he was booking Quarm for? Hope AJ's O.K. Concussion, I assume.

What a load of rubbish. I went home halfway through the second half when their physio came on yet again.
An insult to the paying public - utter garbage.

All I can think of is diving. If it was a shirt pull, you'd probably not get a card. Very odd whatever it was.

Both of them ? How much time added on ? Virtually the last result to come up on TV. I just got fed up with the stoppages.

Sonny Cobbs the first. There wasn't enough stoppage time!

I think the first half was an example of how good Pouton was last week - the midfield looked totally lost for the first half. We were poor - Hastings we ok, but to be honest in the second half scored with their only real attempt on goal. I can't remember Scriv being seriously challenged at all. I'm still wonderering how we didn't score from that clever Watts freekick!
Again the subs had a positive impact - I thought that was Billy Hawes best appearance for a while now for us, and indirectly one of his long throws lead to the goal - was it Cobbs or Watts that got it? Our second was a cracker, great pass from Watts and a superb touch from, I think, the most underated player in our squad - Matt Hann.
A big plus was Watts first 90 mins in a Sutton shirt, and the fact that he was still charging till the end of the game. The defence were a little shaky and could do with Goodliffe back as a calming, forceful influence - if we had him and Pouton today, it would have been 3 points in the bag easily.
Borehamwoods dramatic defeat, Ashford failing to win, and Horsham not playing means we are up into 4th - a win on Tuesday will take us up to 3rd.
Oh Billy, it was 5 mins of stoppage time. Not surprising in the slightest either!

Cobbs with the first and Hann with the second.
Pouton - don't think he would have enjoyed playing on that today, it was bad enough to walk on, let alone play on - Pouts' silky skills would've been tested!
Contentious point - at 1 nil down I thought the ref had given a penalty for the foul on Gargan - when I realised it was a free-kick on the edge I was gobsmacked that no advantage had been played, Matt Hann was clean through!
Got to say a huge well done to all the lads for a sterling effort in the last 25 or so (the bit that Billy missed) - an exhilarating end to the game that we still could've won with Sonny Cobbs' header.
Extra big well done to all those involved with the Ladies' day - huge preparation, looked really good and must have made a massive impression on all the invitees and partakers, stuff to be very, very proud of.
ps - I think the scarves were a master-stroke!

Billy, moaning again. I'm glad you missed the last ten mins, cos if you're gonna be so petulant & throw all your toys out of the pram & walk out early, you get what you deserve.
Did you really expect a classic on our joke of a pitch?
To the game total contrast to last week wnhen we bossed the first 30 mins, we didn't get going, while Hastings were in total control, scored a good goal and rarely looked liked being penetrated.
The second half saw U's slowly push Hastings back. Cobbsy & Big David both missed good headed opportunities before Cobbsy finally got the equaliser. Matt Hann's goal was a thumping finish after brilliant control by Steve Watts had set up the chance.
Perhaps we (the players, etc) went abit over the top with the celebrations 'cos within a minute it was 2-2. I'm sorry but James Norwood failed to make a decent challenge when the ball was in their half and they were able to set up the equaliser. Even so, Cobbsy had a great chance from FQ's superb cross but he headed wide when if he had hit the target we would have got all 3 points.
On the balance a fair result but Hastings have to look at their tactics. As soon as they went a goal up, the 'keeper began wasting time & so it continued with the ref totally disintersted.
How Olurunda (no 8) stayed on was beyond me & I had to laugh at the 9 who got booked for moaning about an aerial challenge by Big David having himself led with his arm when jumping for the ball on a number of occasions.
I think FQ caught the 5 but he managed to travel 10 yards from the incident before going down clutching his right shin.
Please can we do something about our pitch? I know the weather has been crap for a couple of months but the CR half is awful. It's not helped by the warming up before the game. Perhaps, we should warm up at the CR end & use the space behind the goal & let the visitors use the GGL end which appears to be chewed up less. The pitch was already buggered before the match started.
To answer your other q Billy, 5 mins.

In the end its a point that takes us up to 4th and we would of settled for that prior to the Dartford game.
First half was utter pants, we backed off and let them have the freedom of the wing and created nothing and I was glad to make it to HT just the one down. Second half Hann was a inspiration and it was just one way traffic. The free kick just happen to hit a desperate diving body on the line and there was suspicions of a handball in there too? The faining injury was ridiculous and reminded me of the FA Cup game against Heybridge a few years back, that's not football its just plain cheating. I did tell the No5 to his face that he was a w*nker and he said I was a f*cking idiot which is probably true but he is still a big fat cheating W. FQ's booking was one of the most ridiculous I have see which I still don't understand. From behind the goal FQ had the ball running towards the edge of the box and the No5 went straight through the back of him and took legs, ball and all, in my book its a penalty for a challenge from behind??
It was the kind of game that you knew if you could get one the second would follow, the long throws were causing havoc. Hann's finish was top drawer for the second but we throw it away by immediately backing off them again when we should of been chasing them down. We still don't look 100% at the back gifting goals when other sides make us work really hard to get ours.
I hope AJ is OK, the guy is built of cast iron and we need him back, Perkins still does not impress me though and JN did not look like he fancied it today.
BTW: What happened to John Cartalidge, I thought he was good?
Also a big well done to too those invoved in the Ladies day, and welcome to the giraffe I wonder if we can get little cuddly versions made up?

The personal duel between KES and Obaze to see who could punt the ball aimlessly and as far as possible was quite interesting.I made it about even.
