I got a bit confused early on and thought the giraffe had started the match wearing number 5.

First half was absolutely shocking. Two awful sides, with them having about the better of it. Decent finish for their goal, but awful defending again from us.
Second half, they seemed to sit deeper having got ahead. And we eventually realised there was something to be had and got at 'em. Probably a bit of a mugging on the cards when we got 2-1 up, but when things like that come our way we HAVE to close sides out. And we didn't. Their second goal was really sh*t from our PoV.
Pitch was shocking. But it's the same for both sides and they coped FAR better than we did all afternoon. And it's not going to get any better. Just going to have to get on with it.

I think most points have been covered. Its a real shame we went to sleep after the second goal as although we didnt play particularly well, to have nicked all 3 points after a dreadful first half would have made for a great position in the league (especially with the ridiculous run of away games coming up).
As for the five minutes time added on, the ref was being very generous to Hastings. The time wasting was atrocious and when the number 15 board came out for one of the subs, I thought that was the amount of extra time the ref was going to add.
The pitch is truly awful right now so perhaps the run of away games might give somebody a chance to have a look at it (a bit of milder weather might help a bit too).

By the way. Quarm's booking was for treading on the Hastings player. Saw the challenge come in, jumped it to let their guy take the ball & get the corner. But the guy sliding in the way he did left Francis nowhere to go but to land on him.

If Paul got a decent pic of it, I am sure it will be quite clear.

He was running out of pitch, knew the challenge was coming and let the guy take it to win the corner. In riding the challenge, he came down on top of the Hastings guy.
Exact same situation as Westy was sent off for at their place last season.
Not saying it was the right decision, but it certainly wasn't a pen....

Must be all about the angles, from miles away (where I was) it looked to me (and those around me) that Quarm jumped in for the ball when he didn't really need to challenge for it and none of us were surprised that it was a free-kick and a caution. Strange one.

Had an excellent view of the Quarm incident as happened directly in front of me and would have to agree with the assessment of Mr. Taz.

Once again we drop points at home against one of our promotion rivals. Thankfully we could afford the draw, having won our previous three. With other results going our way we now find ourselves in fourth place. As at Dartford, we started with Watts up front and Taylor and Norwood pushing up on the wings. But it's surely clear now that this formation, which has served us so well in away games, doesn't work at home. Once we'd changed in the second half we looked much better, but by then we were chasing the game. For a long time it looked as if another familiar failing - not converting pressure into goals - would be our undoing. Then two goals in quick succession turned the game in our favour, only for us to concede a second within a few minutes of taking the lead. We've now played five of our six matches against the current top three (taking eight points from them), with just K's away to come. (Is that Easter game shaping up as a dress rehearsal for the play-off final?) In the meantime we've got to get through a tough sequence of matches later this month. Beating Harrow on Tuesday would take us above Hastings into third place, but more importantly put three more valuable points in the bank.

Thanks for the extra info re. the Quarm yellow. I saw him jump up and over but not what (or who) he landed on. Still an unlucky booking, mind.
As four or five of our lot had rather average performances maybe that's the Dartford "hangover" over. Still, as many have pointed out, some consistency really is the big need now.
