We deserved a point too. The pitch looked good but was a very fast pitch with a lot of bounce and Margate defended as it was for their lives. We competed with them physically but could never get it down and play as they stuck to their game plan. Another game where I had to move because of inane comments from behind me. Apparently we should have had a red card in the first 2 mins from a two footed jump - it was pretty robust from ?? but both feet seemed to be on the deck. Keister got sent of on Saturday for a reckless 2 footed tackle so they were comparing the two. BTW he gave a master class in organising a defence last night. IMHO it was a difficult pitch to play on as the ball went out of play too quickly - hence the number of throw ins. I spotted their 11 start the second half (he may have also worn it in the first but I didn't spot it) with a long sleeved white t-shirt under the blue home strip and we were in white and I spent 10 minutes yelling at the lino near me and the ref to make him change. The penny finally dropped All in all I believe this was a hard fought point as they are now a handful up front with the introduction of Huggles (from VCD) and Pinnock (from Maidstone) if they had had that side all season I reckon they would be a few places higher. Good journey and back in Wallington by 11:05.

You could say it was a typical end-of-season game with both sides a bit jaded and lacking in ideas. It was rather like the match at Hartsdown Park last April (which we lost) with Sutton looking the more accomplished team but Margate working hard to get something from the match. Maybe last time they were just hungrier for the three points. The contest was briefly lifted by Perkins's belter of an equaliser just after Margate had taken the lead. One outcome of last night's results is that two of the teams we've still to play (Canvey Island once and Harrow twice) both slipped into the bottom half of the table (being replaced by resurgent Tonbridge and Aveley). This means that, as things stand, only one of our remaining ten fixtures is against a top half side.

Who would have believed that Aveley could be so high.

I said it was a good point last night given the travelling on a Tuesday eve, the position Margate are in scraping for everything, the number of games we are currently playing etc. Its the sort of game we would have lost last season or just a few months ago. The performance sounded from here adequate and deserving of the point which is absolutely fine given our present position and we keep the unbeaten run going. The way I see it is we can secure a PO place in March if we get our heads down and spend April trying to improve that finishing position, and that is not bad is it? The team last night and fans who made the trip deserve a lot of credit

Oh how kind! I agree though, when the team needs to perform it does so.
