I noticed that Wayne Shaw was named as a substitute on Tuesday night (number 17 on the team list). Who is he? I have not seen mention of him before and he does not appear in reports of reserve games.

Form an orderly queue, guys! Wayne Shaw is the, ahem, rather portly former Eastleigh keeper who followed Dos to Sutton earlier this season as a goalkeeping coach. He was only named as a sub on Tuesday because some of our regular players were delayed on the way to Margate.

He likes lemon and lime sauce on his 99.

Thanks. Almost another Chris Vagg then? (Am I remembering the name correctly?). Are such coaches also registerd as players?

I should think Wayne maybe a bigger hero to Eastliegh than Vaggy to us. I'm sure he has legend status down there.
I didn't know he'd signed as a player, and as I don't think we've had a goalkeeper coach before in U's case, them signing on has obviously not occurred. As for other clubs I cannot say.
Always thought Wayne was a good 'keeper when he played for Eastleigh and if called upon would not let anyone down I'm sure.

I'm sure Dos would have had someone with Wayne's experience registered as a player. Just in case.

Wayne signed on for emergencies as soon as he joined us in the autumn. In fact, Wayne would have been one of Paul's first recruits when he took over as manager in 2008 but personal matters prevented him from joining us at that time.
