Hi folks I’ve been following of Sutton’s progress for the last couple of years and have been tempted to comment many times before but – well, just haven’t. I have a few things to say to everyone so please bear with me... First of all, well done to the whole squad for the hard work you’ve all put in this season. I know it hasn’t been easy and it’s also pretty obvious that finding the back of the net isn’t our strongest point. Which makes it even more amazing how well you’ve done despite this so I can only assume what’s sometimes unfinished up front is been compensated by strength in midfield and defence. Secondly, I want to show support for the manager. I’m not sure how much you realise what a good’un you’ve got in Paul Doswell. Ok, he’s not perfect, can be inconsistent and sometimes gets it wrong but I’ve seen a hell of a lot worse types in his position and, compared to them, he’s decent. Finally, and most importantly in my opinion, where are the supporters??? Sutton’s had glory in the past and is proving a force to be reckoned with once again but the turn out to games is dire! The Club’s lucky if it gets 350 past the turnstiles and it’s often a lot less, including visitors – and that’s for a home game! Those guys have shivered all sorts of bits off for months now and come out trumps. Call yourselves supporters? Die hard fans would be there rootin’ for them, win or lose, spreading the word getting others on side and bringing them along to the games. If all of you brought along just one extra person, the gate money would double, bar profits would be higher and cheering would be louder. It could be a better atmosphere and a definite psychological boost for the lads. Show them your support. Without demonstration from the fan base, no FCs would exist. SUTTON FC IS IN YOUR HANDS! If you’re still reading, thanks PS: Another unsung hero, in my opinion, is the match reporter and photographer. Usually on by next day – brilliant.

The Die Hard fans are there with many(Myself included)making long trips to see Sutton home and away.I think today we got off to such a great start the rest of the game was an anti climax. Dont be too hard on the fans. The ones who count make long and expensive journeys on a regular basis through thick and thin. We also think our Manager is great! I only had 50miles to drive home so i dont know if my oppinion counts.

I was dressed as a giraffe ate the time and overheating a little bit! But dos mentioned that the crowd had been flat for a while. We do need to show the team and manager how much we appreciate them. All the regulars certainly do. But we don't seem to be getting the turnout from the rest of sutton. Its a shame the free game before xmas got postponed. We've got a great team and manager. Let's show them at kingston

It's Billericay next. Not K's. It's away and a bit awkward to get to, good numbers and noise there would prove more about how happy we are with the team and management than making noise at a local derby where it's expected.

I think alot of people will struggle to make it to Billericay, i would've made it a year or so ago but not now sadly.
I've also got youth games on Monday and Wednesday so will give it a miss and try and get to Croydon on Thurs if i'm not snowed under with match reports!!
Talking of snowed under, they reckon we might have some this week don't they? More games called off, i hope not.

Hi Stokey, First of all, welcome to the board. I'm glad to say that ALL our home league attendances have been ABOVE 350, here's the facts from footballwebpages.co.uk www.footballwebpages.co.uk/attendances.jsp?team=154&limit=20Sat 15th Aug Margate 508 Tue 25th Aug Canvey Island 496 Sat 29th Aug AFC Hornchurch 519 Sat 5th Sep Boreham Wood 504 Tue 22nd Sep Dartford 648 Sat 31st Oct Waltham Abbey 419 Sat 28th Nov Wealdstone 698 Tue 1st Dec Tooting & Mitcham U 517 Sat 12th Dec Kingstonian 731 Sat 26th Dec Carshalton Athletic 1,027 (HIGHEST)Tue 19th Jan Ashford Town (Mx) 383 Sat 23rd Jan Tonbridge Angels 531 Sat 30th Jan Aveley 446 Sat 13th Feb Hastings United 546 Sat 6th Mar Maidstone United 654 Tue 9th Mar Horsham 421 Sat 20th Mar Bognor Regis Town 503 Tue 23rd Mar Harrow Borough 378 (LOWEST)Sat 27th Mar Hendon 497 AVERAGE: 549The average for the past few seasons has been around 500, so this year the average has actually increased. We are consistently one of the highest supported clubs in this division and we are known to have the best away support (in terms of numbers). I think we do very well, numbers wise, and the supporters trust are always hard at work to get more through the turnstiles.

It's not the end of the season yet but Sutton's avg. AWAY attendance is 424. Dartford's is 537. That doesn't tell the whole story. I reckon we still have the best away supporters!

350? Sure you're on the right forum Stokey? TBH, most clubs at our level could do with more through the gates. But at the mo, I think we're doing better than most. 550 average, which is a good 80 better than the next club. Only Dartford get more than us at home. Hopefully, if the football development plan is the success we hope it is, it should place the club more at the heart of it's community. And that should go a long way to making us more high profile in our own town and thus picking up more support.

I think it has to be pointed out Stokey that not all fans are the loud vocal type. I'm happy to call out the occasional "Come on Yellows!", join in the celebrations (as and when they come)or JOIN IN with a chant but I'm not to keen/confident in starting one- not everybody is!
You can't say I'm not a supporter for this because I (as do so many others) do our bit for the club whether its helping organise events to raise money or fixing a giraffe costume!
Lastly, reference your idea about "If all of you brought along just one extra person...etc" that's easier said then done because sadly a lot of people turn their noses up at non league football. However this season I have introduced somebody new to SUFC....my daughter Maya and she loves it! Soon she'll be drinking Bombadier in the bar and helping bar profits to increase! :-)

Ha! I've only just seen this thread, but have just posted a very appropriate reply to it on another one! Well, I'll be at Billericay tomorrow. Shouting. And hopefully eating steak and cheese rolls, if they still do them (Not at the same time though: manners). As Kelly very sensibly says, introducing a new friend is far easier said than done, although that shouldn't stop us from trying and I still will. Unfortunately, I've been part of this club (or this club has been part of me?) for so long that nowadays, most of my friends are either Sutton fans or supporters of other teams I've met while following the Us. I spent years trying to persuade certain friends to come and watch us...they came once, have been making snidey comments about how I'm "too loud and a bit scary" at football ever since, claimed that they didn't come back because they didn't actually like football, and -shock!- suddenly turned up at Ks a few years later and now claim to support them. Huh! C'mon lads, was it something I said or what?! I don't really have friends that live locally, sadly, and those that do are confirmed football-haters. But when I have a boyfriend, as I'm sure everyone's noticed, I will always do my best to get him down to GGL (and on away trips) as often as possible. Does that count? Unfortunately, I haven't had one for a while
