It's not noticeable at all from the Gander Green Lane end, but it's very visible when standing at the Collingwood Road end. Not the kind of thing that's going to make a huge difference to the game, but it probably does have a small effect.

The game was a bit scrappy, especially in the second half, but that's forgivable given the number of matches the lads are having to play this month. The pitch is also still quite heavy, although not as bad as it was.
It was a great header from Perkins to give us an early lead. Some sloppy defending from Hendon helped us get the next two, altough Joseph and Watts both had to show persistence to put the ball in the net. Hendon didn't threaten much, and even after the penalty I couldn't see us letting the lead slip. Craig Dobson looks a good acquisition, and I thought freshened up our line-up.
That's now our third 'double' of the season (after Tonbridge and Aveley).
So on to Billericay - a contest between the sides with the meanest defences in the division. A seven goal thriller must be on the cards. ;D

I though we were quiet today. Mind you no Charmers, was Taz there?? I only saw the second half, work, and we lost 0-1. And that mad Scotsman in the wilds of nowhere!! Maybe part of the problem is that sometimes we only see that particular bunch of admirably vociferous fans as "the noisemakers." They're brilliant, but come on guys, we ought to be able to make a noise without them and it's hardly their fault if we don't (not that you were saying that bh, I know you weren't). It's not their job, it's OURS as a whole and it wouldn't be fair to see it as that particular group's job (again, I know that wasn't what you were saying, bh. I'm deliberately taking your post out of context to make a point). Incidentally, from a personal point of view I gave up trying to start songs years ago (except at really big games when everyone is really up for it) because no bugger would join in when I started them and I'd feel like a right plank, although I nearly always join in if someone else starts (There's the problem!). Having said that, I don't necessarily blame people because, being female where most of you lot are male, I naturally start songs at a pitch that you wouldn't wish/wouldn't be able to sing at so the only chant I can comfortably start is the U-NI-TED! one and even then...well... I do agree with Andy when he says that we all have our comfort zones and it's not compulsory to sing. Of course, we're all entitled to a little peace and quiet ;D I just think it would be nice if those of us who magically extend our comfort zones for away/more important games could make a bit more effort to make noise at home/midweek away games in unexciting places. I know I'm sometimes guilty of Fan Slacking as we all have the occasional off-day (and very often I'll be just about to join in when someone comes and starts talking to me!) so I'm including myself in this. I think this is what Dos is trying to say.
