Our last two games were the only ones during the whole of 09/10 in which we lost after taking the lead. But they were also our two most critical matches.
Perhaps one of the lessons to be learned is how to defend a lead when under pressure in a big game. Like winning back possession and keeping hold of the ball.

I couldn't see Godalming scoring until they did and that was on the back of the penalty miss, which was the pivotal moment of the match. After that, the confidence seemed to drain out of the players & we never had the ball long enough to muste any sort of response to their second goal.
We should have had a second pen when CT was clipped inside the box but the ref, who, I am afraid didn't have the best of games - booking Billy Hawes for reacting to what was a blatant dive by their no 9 & then not booking the diver - bottled it.
Even so, I'm afraid we grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory & history will have to wait for U's to join Dulwich on 16 SSC final wins.

Disagree OS - Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson have a simple mantra - make sure you want it as much as the other team, THEN the skill and ability will show. I have had a look through our games over the season to pickup on the pattern and try and prove my point. It is a fact that when we have had the ball we have looked good all season, but it is also a fact that if you go back to the early games of the season for quite lengthy periods we were struggling in midfield when we didn't have the ball. Dos did move to bring in Pouton and it worked, if you look at the stats for when Poulton has been on the field and you combine that with Mckimm you will see the facts starring you right in the face, with neither on the pitch we have a problem. Last night in control 1-0 Pouton off no Mckimm, midfield opens up like a sardine tin, had Pouton of stayed on he would have smashed the pen into the roof of the net and then Mckimm should have come on as the holding player. We would have won without too much trouble. Kingstonian, no Pouton and Mckimm goes off on 62mins within 1min we concede and from then on the midfield disintegrates. Kingstonian league match, Pouton off no Mckimm, midfield opens up for Traynor to score winner. AFCHx away: Pouton off on 56mins, Gray scores winner on 66mins. Maidstone away: Pouton off on 66mins, Rowland scores Stones winner on 88mins. Bwood Home: Pouton off on 76mins Green scores Woods winner on 80mins. Wealdstone away: No Pouton, Mckimm off on 57mins Stones come from 1-0 down like last night with goals on 72 and 90mins If you look at the above it was odds on that we would probably lose to anyone once Pouton went off last night. I am not saying we don't need a striker because we do or that it may have been a bit like after the Lord mayors show last night, but don't tell me it was purely down to the players not wanting it. A Pouton who lasts for 90mins is a must (like a Bailey from 03/04) and a striker and we would cruise this league.

I didn't think Poulton had a good game last night, maybe I'm missing something
