If we capture both Jolly and Forbes maybe we won't need a midfield

Jolly is a great signing but the loss of 5 midfielders if that proves to be true is a concern. I'm particularly disapponted in losing Sonny & FQ as they wer major contributors to our unbeaten run. I'm not surprised Sam has moved on as he also got some unwarranted stick on here - he worked bloody hard up front last season.
It's a shame that we cannot retain a number of last season' squad as again Dos will need to look for the right formula - still I look forward to presssec's transcript later.
I believe Matt Hann may have had work commitments that interferd with his football. Another loss - a very good big game player and gave it is all when he was playing.

I agree with frakey. The loss of Cobbs and FQ will be enormous and Sam worked hard up front.

Thanks PS. Guessed FQ was signed for the BSS and would leave in we didn't get up. Good luck to Matt Hann, suprised about Danny Phillips. Glad to have Jolly with us, We'd be in the BSS if he was with us last season I'm sure!!

Always said the same re Danny Phillips, no end product. Would make a wonderful 5 a side player. Same with Aj, decent pace but couldn't deliver a ball. Hope we manage to hold on to one of cobbs and quarm at least. I guess midfield area is the worry at the minute.

It looks like a complete new midfield and i hope Dos is able to get the right players. No surprise that the Hawes brothers are going and i often thought there was no end product from Danny Phillips despite his ball skills.I wonder who will play wide left now.

Having read the explaination the only odd one for me is Danny with a couple of good strikers infront of him I think he was well worth keeping? BWG is a good keep, don't think we have seen the best of him yet.

Wow. You go away for a few days and it all happens.
Jolly coming in should be great. A Carshalton fan I know has been saying all season that we could have got promoted if he was in the team. Mind you, he did come to two Sutton games with me at GGL that ended nil - nil against fairly defensive sides so he was probably rather pointing out the obvious.
Really disappointed that Sam might be on his way and hope that the new signings will be prepared to work as hard as he did last season even when he wasnt getting service. Cobbs was great, in the last few months of the season especially, and will be missed too.
Good luck to both of them in finding clubs. If they end up in a higher division i doubt they will let anybody down.
I dont like to be negative about any players but seeing that Steve Watts is staying, we need him to bring more to the party next season. Maybe he will be fit which I am sure will help.

Not quite the continuity I'd have liked - most of the players staying are either defenders or youngsters. It does look as if we're having to rebuild the midfield, which could mean another period of bedding down at the start of the season.
Jolly's an eye-catching capture, but I've a slight worry that his best years may now be behind him.

My main concern for next season is that so far we only have two guaranteed central midfield players, and Steve McKimm is hardly a spring chicken these days. He's doing a fantastic job as coach and is good to have in reserve, but if Fancis and Sonny find other clubs, I think we're in trouble come the start of the season. We still have not captured a strong ball winner for the middle of the park, and I am worried that we will suffer the same issues as last season if we do not get someone in quickly. By my count we currently have 7 forwards (8 if Sam Gargan stays) . We could be heading the same way as Man City last season if we're not careful. It's fine having choice and competition up front, but for me the current squad is missing the central vertebrae of its spine. Dos still has some work to do, I feel.

Jolly's an eye-catching capture, but I've a slight worry that his best years may now be behind him. Yeah, right, 'cos at 26 players are over the hill ! I know there's no football to focus on, but I'm surprised people are getting worried about gaps in next year's line-up more than two months before kick-off The players in question may not leave but Dos also said that 4 or 5 other players are lined up, we just thought it better to keep everyone advised of the situation to date rather than wait until everything is cut and dried.

TBH, Cobbs & Gargan would need to find clubs prepared to pay us a fee for their services. So there's a good chance they might stay.
No reason to worry just yet. Not even June! How many years did we go through not knowing who was in the side until start of August??
As for Phillips, I agree. Not enough end product. That and having a player on the squad who is effectively useless between November to Feb (at best!) because the "pitches don't suit him" always struck me as a bit pointless. A luxury and a waste of the budget that could be used elsewhere.

Delboy, maybe it's just because I get so many phone calls from Dos about players I need to contact that I am no longer surprised about anything, including how many people he knows. I have never once mentioned a player to him without him knowing not just his playing history but just about everything down to his shirt size.
