Question - Is Billy a real person? ...and if so can Vern start a campaign to get him segregated?

BH - The trophy is shared. Unfortunately the Saints had gone back to the (home) dressing room and did not reappear for the presentation

Good Day Out. Thanks for the hospitality. Clear to see why you finished at the top last term out. Good habits, plenty of pace and the talent to play passing football, especially the first half. I think we played a part in pacing the first period as an entertainment for everyone watching, and paid the respect due. Your boys got their heads and the ball down, and all in all gave us something to think about. Obviously, in the second we allowed ouselves to increase tempo a little, and I think we showed a taste of what we can do. A little surprised shortly after half time, to see the substite right winger totally frozen out by the Team. Nothing went out to him from the back or midfield, which made it easier for us to close down your left hand side and then start to fill the middle and push you back. I did enquire what was going on and was told he is a trialist from a pro Club. I suppose that is just your Boys looking after their own. Strange to me, and smacks of Park football, but in fairness I suppose there are fewer contracts going this days in non League. Overall though, beyond this cliquishness, which I am sure the Manager will sort, you have got a Team there, and I am sure you will have another good season. Best Wishes, thanks for the friendly day in the sun.

I though it was a great performance (taking into account it was only a friendly etc) but on the back of the Palace game it seem to give plenty of scope for optimism.
I agree that the defence was very impressive against league one opposition but also want to give a mention to Davis in midfield. I thought he was excellent (maybe one over agressive challenge in the second half) and the whole team looks to be coming together pretty nicely.
Tuesday should be interesting.

I found it strange that Slegg never got the ball on the right as he was impressive against Palace.

Oh, so it was Adam Slegg released by Sunderland ( found on the web). Maybe your boss did'nt want Pardew to see him.
I suspect though that the boys were protecting their places.
Perhaps, as you say he was good against Palace, no one wanted him to be good against us.
Thought the article in the NLP was a little dismissive of our Club, who came down as favour. Overall, with the thing above, it has tarnished what was a good day.
Best wishes to those I met though.

I thought that - but the poster would not realise that people pay little mind to either billy or the NLP.....

Is the NLP still going? Haven't seen a copy for about 4 years.

Apparently so.

The only thing I thought looked tarnished yesterday was the pitch, I am not sure these early games are doing us any good?
I do love this idea that the pitch was partly to blame for Saints performance, does Mr Pardew think we have some kind of advantage on it? IMO the more talented the player the worse surface they can play on??

The match report in the NLP made very good reading from a Sutton point of view.
I can sort of see where eastleighview might be coming from in that it was very pro Sutton and seemed to indicate a much easier afternoon for the Sutton players than it really was but I suppose it is a non leage paper after all so should concentrate on the positives of our play.
Having said how good we played, they still gave MOM to Kevin Scriven which I think was for the saves in the last quarter of the game and appear to have made us firm favourites for league based on the last two games (a bit early for that kind of talk i think).
