I went along today as I did the Palace Friendly too - we really do look quite impressive. Today was more of a test I felt but we played really well, great to see Bray back playing - Adeji was everywhere today and I think will be very important to Sutton this season. Roll on the 21st!

Considering this was only our second match and Saints 5th or 6th we looked very sharp, one might even say quite impressive?
Saints came with what Alan Pardew said was the best side he could field and also stated earlier in the week that he was coming to us with both barrels loaded and was not looking for anything less than a win. In the end we counted that with some excellent (confident) football and we managed to get that old cliche about it being the pitches fault :-)
I expected us to concede 4 or 5 today, but our defensive was top draw, Downer, Bray, Goodlift, Page all looked like they had played together for years. I thought JG was our MOTM and won everything, he would not have looked out of place in the Saints side in fact he would have strengthened them? We have pace to burn and not only that with the likes of the reborn Dundo and Jolly we look like we can add the end product. We have scored 3 goals in these matches but also hit the woodwork 3 times and although there is no chicken counting from me I genuinely believe if we apply it over 42 games the bookies won't be far out?
Staines on Tuesday is a good test at the right time to see how far we have progressed?

I enjoyed that today. We played really well in the first half and it was only in the last 20 mins that Saints looked the better side.
I thought Richard Jolly had a great game today, holding up the ball well & his movement was excellent. However, the whole team looked very good and while pre-season friendlies are no yard stick for the real thing, there should be some quiet optimism around GGL at the moment.

I was also impressed with the way we played. I would have liked a penalty shoot-out to decide a winner, though.

One point of clarification from the game - the ref confirmed afterwards that the free kick that Ricky Lambert took for Southampton's goal was indirect, and the goal only counted because the ball touched someone on the way in. Problem is, no one's sure who it hit, so if you don't see the goal credited to anyone in the reports for the time being, that's why.

Surely the goal should be credited to Lambert if it was a goal bound shot that took a small deflection?

I don't think you can credit the taker of an indirect free kick with a goal since the fact it was goalbound is irrelevant.

Since it doesn't count anyway just give it to Lambert!
