I come in peace for once As some of you may have noticed I have started getting real ale in our club bar- and the good news is that we are not tied to anyone so we can buy in from anywhere. Sooo, looking ahead to the derby game, I am thinking of ordering a couple of casks on the assumption that plenty of you lot will be up for the real thing. Any suggestions welcome, I’m trying to support local brewers like Dark Star, Twickenham, Sambrooks etc. but if a particular ale or style is a favourite at your gaff I will try to oblige- my instinct is to go for a dark and a light..? Will come back middle of next week and pick up suggestions… PS No Youngs or Wells absolutamente!! Attachments:

Ignoring the moral side of giving any money to you lot cos it'll all be going to dippy's one man club destroyer campaign...
Dark Star Original if you can get hold of some as the dark ale.
Twickenham Naked Ladies is pretty good for a light or anything from Dark Star (Naturally I'm biased due to my previous employment in on of their pubs but their brews are near faultless).

Hi Rob, Nice one. I noticed that You're trying to get some decent stuff in your bar, two good beers this week-end! As for the derby, a dark beer is a must. The Original as suggested by Medi would be superb, and a good lighter beer is a must. ;D Hey, I might even pop into your bar after the Hope if you've got something decent on!

In honour of our visit, how about Amber Chocolate Orange Stout? (Yes, it does exist. I've drunk it at GBBF. ) I'd actually be very happy with a beer from any of the three breweries you mention, Rob. Sambrook's have just launched their Powerhouse Porter, which should satisfy the demand for something on the dark side! That and DS Hophead would provide a nice contrast.

Ignoring the moral side of giving any money to you lot cos it'll all be going to dippy's one man club destroyer campaign... Nick, thanks for your suggestions. As regards your first sentence: most of us at CAFC have issues with the DoF. However your throwaway line is way off the mark: he has put and attracted money into the club, as even respected figures like Lenny Lawrence have acknowledged. Also, give him credit where it's due: he was willing to let me go for it and gave me a completely free hand to buy in what I wanted. It has always been a curate's egg with PD: I actually think he has brought greater financial stability, attracted new income streams and sorted out a lot of the money mess:it's other issues I have problems with.
