It was a cracking day, both the games brought excitement and drama, and after week in and week out of football, it's very odd having a crowd of 25k or so totally intermixed!

It always seems when I tune in to any cricket I tend to see a wicket within a couple of balls and true to form I saw Braves lose their first. I only turned it on as there was nothing else to view once Countryfile had finished. With JR here not a fan. Took me a while to work out the graphics, don't get the colour scheme but then one of my mates calls me a dinosaur so... We already have 2020 so not sure about this format. However, all that said, 28k in for a Sunday evening, 22k watching the women's match in the afternoon, you can't knock it for raising cash and some of these cricketers are topping up their pensions in what, like most sports is a generally short career. Can't blame them for that and like any pro they want to win so it's competitive. I don't mind it for the women's game but the mens game is awash with so much cricket. Noy playing any first class cricket during the majority of August is plain wrong. The Hundred is already losing fans playing to half empty grounds. Once the giveaways go then this competition may well go the way the European NFL went. Mind you I used to love going to see the London Monarchs with Phil Alexander as the kicker (remember him Frakey?).

I wouldn’t have too much of an issue with it had it not relegated test cricket to the margins of the summer. It’s crazy that a test series is starting towards the end of August. Next year is even worse - all test cricket over by the end of July.
Also the hundred seems to be 1 match per day played in evenings. I personally would have thought a return to the old Sunday League cricket would be best - you had about 8 games played around the country every Sunday throughout the summer so you knew where you were with it. All games played between 2-7pm.
The current set up seems to have created division and resentment more than new fans. Very tough times for cricket.

There are two matches per day at The Hundred. The women play first followed by the men though I think it would be better to switch a few matches around so men play in the afternoon and women in the evening.
