I'm sure there'll be a few pints consumed in Folkestone this Saturday. Here's a short guide to the better pubs. Note that most pubs in the town don't open before midday. Chambers (Cheriton Place, CT20 2BB). Cellar bar between the station and the seafront, and a good place to meet before hitting the old town. Expect to find a few ales from small Kent breweries here, plus real cider. Decent menu. Opens at 12. British Lion (The Bayle, CT20 1SQ) 15th century building in the old town, once frequented by Charles Dickens. Generous food portions (as Medibot might recall), though beer range may be a bit on the dull side. Opens at 12. Guidhall (The Bayle, CT20 1SQ) Traditional pub a stone's throw from the last place, and serving good value lunches. I had some cracking ale from the Saltaire brewery on my last visit here. Opens at 12. Samuel Peto (Rendezvous Street, CT20 1EY) Not been here before, but it's a Wetherspoons so should be open before 12. A converted Baptist church in the old town, and the interior is apperently something to behold! East Cliff Tavern (East Cliff, CT19 6BU) It's worth trudging up to the East Cliff to experience this wonderfully traditional back-street boozer, like somebody's front room with a bar along one side. Expect to find one or two interesting beers and real cider on gravity dispense. May not open until 1, and definitely doesn't do food!

I forgot that Chambers has an Easter beer festival. So if you like to sample lots of different ales, that's the place to head for. The place may well be busy, so if real ale's not your thing then best to give it a wide berth.

There are loads more friendly pubs in the town, with the nearest to Folkestone Central is the Park Inn, which will be directly in front (to the left abit) when walking down the station approach

I'd definitely recommend getting off at Folkestone West. The high speed train stops there.
There are local pubs down on the main road, but you're definitely welcome at our clubhouse "Stripes" (you'll see the irony of the name when our team runs out). Frankly we could do with your money, as we're still paying off our CVA, and the beer is VERY competitively priced. Also big screens in Stripes. Definitely good for a 4 hour session.
Out of the station, down the road (probably shown as towards M20), turn right at the traffic lights and 100m down the road is Stripes (& the ground). You don't need to go anywhere else!!
